Hello ALL,

I will not spend close to 2000.00 bucks on a tour pak color matched to my bike that I will use once a year! So, what color would be close? The silver or the black/charcoal gray flames? What do you think? Brilliant Silver, Vivid Black, Denim Black or Black Quartz?

Which one would be closest?

i went gown that road a few years back...ended up buying the cvo painted to match . my bike looked like a pos without the matching TP, so in the long run it ended up costing me more...just saying

      Buy used on ebay or a primed one from one of the 20 percent off HD dealers or even aftermarket companys send it to Joe @ Extreme Dimension should come out cheaper than the dealer marked up prices for CVO painted parts....  BostonBoy

I have never seen a dealer mark-up a part that was ordered color matched because it was for a CVO. Maybe some do, avoid those. Easiest way is to order one color matched from a 20% dealer or find you a quality shop, hopefully in your area that sprays PPG or has a Jobber who sells PPG and will mix him your colors and supply the PPG recommended steps for spraying your color and go that way.
I have painted alot of CVO parts and it is not hard to do or to obtain the colors (contrary to what is usually posted on this site) but I understand the steps you have to take and I am patient. If you don't have some knowledge in this field and can discuss what you are demanding the final result to be with the shop of your choice, buy the pre-painted parts. Not going to save much if you pay retail labor and materials cost for a local to do it.
For me to do it, Labor would be min $400 (Sand bare tourpak, prime, sand primer, Prime again, finish sand, Seal tourpak, spray base color, tape for second color, sand second color area, spray second color (this would be flames/stripes etc), sand again feathering second coat edges then spray clearcoat, multiple coats, dry for first hour with max filtered temp controlled air then overnight, block sand until totally smooth with multiple grades of sand paper finishing up with, for me, 2500 grit then buff until a mirror finish , PLUS materials would be over $200. One PINT of Typhoon maroon for my RG cost me $80 and that is not inc any additives, thinner, Clearcoat or thinner and additive for the clear, no sand paper, no tape etc. FYI buy a painted one for 20% off.

I ordered one primed and sent to Joe a Xtreme. He did a excellent job custom painting it to match graphics from the rest of the bike. The tour pack was originally one color. Ended up with a custom painted tour pak for cheaper than the stock CVO one color tour pak. One tip, order it shipped directly to Joe when you order it to save 80$ shipping bill

Alright just ordered the chopped pak with matching key. Does anyone know if the tether and locking latch come with?

The tether does come with it as well as the latch, but on mine I did not want the chrome latch and hinges so I picked up the black ones, also you will want to get the liner for inside it instead of the rubber mat that comes with it. I also got the Stealth Tour Pak Luggage Rack in black, not very functional but looks good.

Do you recommend the king base? I know for the chopped it's not required

If your getting the chopped tour pack then you would need the liner for that one.
