Day-Long Touring Saddle
« on: May 28, 2017, 10:50:44 PM »

Wondering if anyone has any experience with Day-Long Touring Saddles from Russell Cycle Products?

Thanks in advance for any input you may have to share.

I do!

I am a Corbin guy, not sure how many Corbin seats I owned in my days, maybe 12-15 for different bikes and I though they where great.

Then last year I purchased a russel Day long seat and it change my whole comfort perspective. It is not the best looking seat but by far superior when it comes to comfort.

I have never had a better seat and 1,000 mile days is now a breeze. No hot spots no issues, simply the best seat I ever had.

Wish I would have tried this 20 years ago.

Is it possible that you could share some pics of your bike with your great seat?

They have pictures of all their custom seats based on type of motorcycle for which they were built. Here's the HD Gallery.

https://day-long.com/gallery/harley-davidson/

I had a custom Day Long made for my K1600. I have about 25k on this seat. I sent it back for an adjustment once. Very comfy. Done multiple 800+ days with this seat, no issues.

Please be aware that they build your custom seat using the pan from your existing seat.

Thanks for the pic.  Looks like good back support even without the additional rider backrest.

I'm hoping that Road Dad's seat is the all leather version on his Electra Glide.

Thanks Simon.

That would be great if I could see the seat on an Electra Glide model.

It does have the appearance of the Road Zeppelin seats offered by Harley...

Here is a picture. Like I said, not pretty. Looks like it was stolen from a Massey Ferguson

Thanks Road Dad,

That looks like a very comfortable seat.  They did an amazing job matching it up to your stock passenger backrest.

I noticed that the rider backrest on your seat appears to attach differently from the one posted above by Simon (DesertHog)... Does that mean you continued to use your stock backrest with the Day-Long seat?

Is yours a heated seat?  Cost?  Did you supply your old seat for their use as a base?

Thanks again!

If you have a heated seat, you can maintain that function. Cost varies depending on the options, materials and even your size. Take a good hard look around the site and you will find all the available options and an order form with pricing. You don't have to upgrade the back seat, that's a way to save money.

Regarding the passenger backrest, mine was stock with an upgrade to the sunbrella material in color match.

Options included;
- Backrest, driver
- Overweight suspension for hefty folks
- Retain heated seats
- Vinyl, Leather, Sunbrella material choices
- Inserts or not
- Different stitching styles (moon, diamond, etc...)
- Ride In or Mail In (Ride In costs more)

I did a Ride In, did both driver and passenger, vinyl with sunbrella inserts for both seats and backrests.

Cost me about $1400 all said and done excluding gas, food and lodging :)
Worth every penny. I nearly broke my ass getting 1500 miles on the stock seats from BMW.
