OK, here goes...bear with me for I'm just a rookie. Dealer installed the complete HD 6 speed tranny from new. At the same time we changed the primary and secondary gearing with  37846099A clutch shell and sprocket, and 40269-85A compensator sprocket. Don't know what gearing that gives me now, but the Dealer told me it increases torque 5-7%. Maiden voyage today. Was cruising at 120 kph (75mph) in 5th gear at 3100 rpm and 130kph (80 mph)in 6th gear at 3100rpm. Engine sounded real good in both gears at that rpm. Did 140kph (88 mph)at 4000 rpm. Loved the ratio. As long as I was above 3000 rpm in 5th or 6th, the rollon was sweet. Lots there. Compared to my Honda ST1300 at 125 HP and 85 ft lbs torque, this 103 with this gearing pulls real nice. Many have commented on the tranny noise. Can't understand this yet. Didn't sound noisy at all. Maybe I'm too new to the Harley sounds and don't notice them yet.

Not sure what your sprocket change did to the gear ratio but it doesn't seem like your end result gained you any real overdrive advantage over the stock box.  We're seeing about 2800 rpm at 70mph with the standard 5 speed.  Your ranges do have the motor closer to its "happy place" in the torque curve.  For driveability that's certainly a good thing.  Or at least a fun thing.  But it doesn't look as if the overdrive tranny really gained you much overdrive when coupled with whatever sprocket change you had done  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
