What would you do?  103tHunDer Please Read
« on: February 27, 2005, 05:53:29 PM »

My wife and I were in Big Boar (Wesport, MA) HD Saturday to pick up some parts.  It also heppened to be my Birthday which is when I purchased the SED and the SEEG in the past.

On the floor was a 2005 SEFB in Blue...my wife absolutely loved it.  She insists that she is not nearly ready for a real bike and is much more comfortable on her Rebel and shadow or her preferred spot on the back of the SEEG.  But she wanted me to get it.  The Dealer is not known as an MSRP dealer but since I don't need the Bike, I can push him daily to see if he will take the offer.

The other option, is a stock Fatboy that she will allow $12K worth of customizing right off the bat.

What should I do?  Tough Decision Huh!

Hey, 103ThunDer, I told her you would never believe she said to get it, and keep the SED and SEEG!

/Bill

I would take the stock Fatboy and put the 120 Jims motor in it.  There's an article on the new motor in the newest issue of Cycleworld.  Then you still have $4000 to play with.

Bill, you're one lucky man!!!  The SEEG, the SED and now a Fat Boy (and you get to keep that awesome-looking SED of  yours!).  If I was single, I'd be asking you right now if your wife had a sister.  But I digress . . .

I think the choice between the two bikes is pretty clear.  You've got the CVO-thing going on pretty strong there.  You've already got two and there are not many that can say that.  Now you have the option of adding another, plus your wife is already in love with it.  So, I voted SEFB.  Anyone here is free to disagree with me, but I feel like if you customize a regular FB, you'll always wish you had gone wth the exclusivity of the CVO.  Also, I think the CVO will always maintain a higher value than a modded non-CVO.

Of course, you're the only one that can make the final decision, these are just my thoughts.  Either way, knowing you, you will end up with one fine machine.  Keep us posted!  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

project bike: 120 JIMS engine, 240 rear wheel kit. Now you have performance, uniquness, and still save money.

If you don't need or really want the SE fatboy and especially if dealer doesn't sell at MSRP, wait a year or two and buy it used.

Gotta go with the stock bike, 120ci, and a real rear wheel/tire.

First of all...your a lucky man!!!   [smiley=2vrolijk_21.gif]
Since you already have the other CVO's I would go for a project bike. You can do alot for that kind of money.

When I mentioned all this I meant to modify the fat boy and not get an aftermarket bike. Keep it harley for value reasons. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for all the input...it will all be moot if they won't sell at MSRP, again, I don't need it...she will quickly tell you she is not ready...and may never be.  But this bike really caught her eye so if there was ever one she would want this is it.  I would unfortunately, until she is ready,  have to put 2500 miles per year on it myself just so that it does not sit...I give and give!

So in the end, it would be the SEFB but again, no MSRP, no deal.
