The upside is a cool left saddlebag.  It is up to you on what to put in there...

Yeah - a cool left saddlebag and at least one cool foot for my BSR!   :-*

I won't be doing a ghost pipe - but thanks for suggesting it...

If it isn't functional, I don't see the point of cleaning it!   ;)

That was exactly my thought too Scott.  Had that same discussion with someone here a few weeks ago.

Making the choice away from true duals was for me the hardest part.  Have done tduals on bikes for a long time.  I like (and am just very very used to) the look.  I also look the slighly greater ease of service that goes along with it.

But when the White Brothers E series slip ons went away I lost my true dual torque muffler.  Nothing else has proved to be as good.  The Rineharts haven't even been close and, for me personally, they're also louder than I prefer.

Once I got past the change, however, than it was as it almost always is for mechanical choices.  Wasn't going to add a purely decorative adornment that would would still need to be cleaned, occasionally checked for loose bolts, etc etc etc.  It'll probably cost me a chrome pulley with the left side open and more viewable now.  But that's ok.

And don't forget the wheels/rotors...

I heard this new guys bike is stock.
Why does he need wheels/rotors on a stock bike?

« Reply #22 on: January 18, 2008, 01:59:46 AM »

I'm sort of buttin in here but the topic is D&D Fat Cats so i thought I would ask  a question here,, I bought  a 2 into 1 D&D fat Cat for 2007/2008 ULtra from Steve at Automotive Machine & Supply ( Well hopefully I get the pipe soon,, Steve has writers cramp lately)  anyhow....  Steve mentioned D&D did all their testing on the 2 into 1 with stock HD header gaskets, so one should use those.  The stock gaskets are restrictive in my view but I don't wanna put a differnt gasket in and have it fail. Does anyone know if a better gasket is safe to use on the D&D Fatcat 2 into 1?    SE gaskets maybe?

Thanks for any advice..

And Thanks Steve  for  great pricing on a great product!

Hey Rockton, I've got the D & D Fatcats on my 110 and used cometic exhaust port gaskets. Bought it through Kuryakyn as apparently they dont squeeze out into the exhaust port thereby slowing down restriction. Part #482 if buying from Kuryakyn. Where abouts in Canada are you from? I'm from the Southern Ontario area.

SE gaskets, cometics, and my favorite--- novello copper gaskets. the port end of the fatcat is as close to perfect fit as you will find on any exhaust, so any gasket should seal.

I'm 99% sure...I need another 1% to get over taking off the Rinehart Tru duals that I like so much...but I think the D&D's will look great too, and I am convinced there is more performance to be had by going to 2 into 1....  I am also considering the Rinehart 2 into 1..but am leaning towards the D&D.  I will hang on to the Rinehart Tru Duals - I may just have to get another bike to put them on!!  Such dilema's...

Scott

There is definately more performance to be had from a 2-1 and the Fatcat does a nice job of maximizing potential. Here is a dyno comparison between the Fatcat and Rinehart true duals. This is the same bike tuned with a DTT. Although conducted a couple weeks apart conditions were close to identical. The first sheet is the Rineharts and second the Fatcat.

Yea....Uncle, Uncle!!  The Fatcats are showing some of the best numbers out there, no doubt about it.  It will be hard for me to give up the RH TD because of the looks, but a set of these pipes may end up on Wanda June when some other things get done.

At least I've already got the matching PM Torque Pulley, so I'd actually save money, huh?   :huepfenlol2:
