What is the SAFE way to keep your tires black?
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:03:46 PM »

Im not so excited about having them look like gloss.....Just a nice dark black color.  Also...I undrstand the issues with oil based products, so whats everyone using out there to keep their tires looking like new?

Thanks...

I use MoCo Tire/Wheel Cleaner and then I use Black Magic Tire Wet Foam applied w/sponge to tires. After that I use some foam window cleaner to get the smudges off the wheels and also spray it on the tires (the ammonia will help dry the tire foam). Even though I use the window cleaner afterwards I still get some slung on the fenders on the first ride that needs to be wiped off. I've found out that there is a new product out Black Magic Titanium Tire Wet Gel that is supposed to have minimal sling that I'll be trying next time I have to buy something.

One thing you have to be concerned about is getting any product like this on tread of tires, but I don't worry about getting a little bit here and there.

Totally agree.  IMHO, Nothing you add to a blackwall makes it look better than just being really 'clean'.  ;) spyder

If this is the same that's been out for a while I tried it. From what I remember it was a two process job you apply it then have to buff it off. I didn't think the outcome was worth the effort. :nixweiss:

If you're asking about the way I dress the tires, nope. That's what I do.

Here is a pic of the wheels dressed..

You can see a little bit did bleed down on tread, but I've never had a problem with tire slipping in turns. :nixweiss:

You don't usually get tire slip under 35 MPH.

Try "Orange Blast" :orange:. I use it a lot and it makes every cleaning easier than the first time you detail. It's organic (which I don't care about) but it won't harm anything. It'll make the tires look brand new. I'm asked all the time how I keep my tires looking so good...my answer "Orange Blast) :vrolijk_4: IMHO!
