110" engine poll
« on: February 27, 2009, 01:01:35 PM »

How many of you 07 & 08 110" owners have NOT had the factory upgrade AND have no problems AND how many miles do you now have on your scoot?

I have the letter from the motor company since Aug last year and am waiting for a symptom...so far my 08 FHLTCUSE3 110" shows no symptoms after just turning 10,000 miles.  According to AI mag who have Donny Peterson of Heavy Duty Cycles writing a series article on the 110's issues, one of the first symptoms is an oil seep/leak at the head gasket just under the rear cylinder exhaust pipe.  According to Peterson, the MOCO does not have a true fix yet for the gasket leak issue, just treating the symptoms.

The part about not having a true fix and just treating the symtoms is correct.

What is being asked is stated in the question in the 1st message.  We're "polling" 110 engine owners to gather info on their experience.

T-man, what 07HD110 was asking about is the physical poll that you can add at the begining of the thread where folks can check a box to indicate their response.  For example,
_ Have not had the upgrade and currently have no problems
_ Had problems and have had the upgrade performed
_ Didn't have problems until after the upgrade was performed
_ 0 to 5000 miles
_ 5001 to 10000 miles
_10001 to 15000 miles
_15001 to 20000 miles
etc.

If you're not sure how to set up the poll, send Fired00d a message and I'm sure he can help you out.

Thanks, Jerry, I just thought I'd let folks tell it.  I've never done what you said - would look more professional, for sure.  I'm just in a dither what to do with the riding season approaching and like to see what other folks have seen/done, etc.

Mine leaked from the time I drove it off the showroom floor. Just had it in for the third time for this pesky oil puddle on my garage floor (post "fix"). Good luck!

The dealer did my gaskets when I purchased my FLHRSE.  Hasn't leaked.  I have no issues as of yet (knocking on wood) :2vrolijk_21:.  7000+ miles so far...

I have just under 5000 miles,no leak.I'm using XIED's to add more fuel to A/F Mix,which has dropped head and exhaust temps.AI writer seems to think excess heat is behind most if not all the problems.

I had the leak at 4k, heads replaced, and since many other issues arose, including an engine paint issue, the motor was replaced at 10k.  additional 3k ridden since then and so far so good.  I can't wait for the weather to break and get some reals miles on and verify it's all good.

Good Luck

I have an 08 SEUC and had the engine enhancement done last fall with 8800 miles on the clock.  This bike is bone stock and I have had no problems prior to the enhancement.  After, I experienced upper valve train noise.  Took it back and I believe they relieved my rocker boxes which helped some.  Currently 13500 on the clock and I still think there's excessive valve train clatter.  Running Syn-3 in all holes.  So far, no leaks before or after the enhancement.  I was more worried about the CRs.  Prior to the enhancement, I was having some starting issues.  Not always, but a few times, it seemed as the starter was working harder than it should need to.  Still the best ride I've ever had.  She's a keeper.
