Any Women on a CVO Streetglide out there?
« on: March 21, 2010, 11:11:46 AM »

Looking for any fellow women riders who are on this site. Would like to ask about mods and issues. I just got mine last Friday and have only 200 miles on it. I notice that the clutch is alittle tight and my hand hurt after 170 mile ride yesterday. Sure hope it gets easier once I break it in.

There are lots of mods to the SE Street Glide already......just look here in the Street Glide board.

And there are a number of women here in Nor Cal on glides.  There's Soozie (Bandanagirl) on an 05 SE Street Glide and an 09 SE Road Glide, Melanie (SGChick) on an 06 Street Glide, Susan (wasjons) on a 10 Street Glide http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=47402.0  and Terrie (Terriez), my wife on an 09 Street Glide that's tricked out and dressed up with SESG body parts and SERG wheels, etc.   http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.0

I wanted the Tequila as my husband has the orange 09 CVO Roadglide, we would've made an awesome pair riding. I'm going to talk to our local shop and see if I can swap out the clutch spring??  Also thought of making a gadget to keep clutch pulled in over night to see if it will loosen it up a little. Just some thoughts, keep me posted if you find way to loosen up that clutch.

Thank you!

The clutch is hydraulic I believe, so I don't know what you can do if it is.  Some of the guys from the private shops Like Jim or one of the others may have an idea.

The clutch pressure plate will not loosen up over night......and if it did, then you'd have a slipping clutch problem.

It'll be a little easier for you in a week or two.....the strength in you left wrist/arm will get stronger.  You might want to get a foam ball to work with during the day, to improve your strength......that's what Terrie was doing.

Congrats on the new bike! You are going to love it . If you get Nor Cal lets us know so that we can hook up and meet and ride.
Your hand will get stronger as time goes by.

Welcome to the forum sbayne! Beautiful SG you have there! I have an 07 Streeglide and love it. As Jc said...you'll get used to the clutch as you ride it more...170 mile ride is a great start! You'll get lots of help on mods from everyone here!

as for your clutch, you may consider a Variable Pressure Clutch (VPC).

Sounds like you had a great first ride... I agree with the others, that it will become easier the more you ride it.

Therefore, just get out there and ride, ride, ride!

That is an awesome bike you have there.  :2vrolijk_21:

For your clutch you can install a stock 96" pressure plate in it. As long as you don't run it hard the clutch will not slip. But I would reinstall the 110" clutch back after your hand gets stronger. I did this for a girl after installing a S.E. stage II kit a few years back.

All good advice and thank you, I'll be putting more miles on and see if it gets better. Got a squeeze ball so this marshmellow can handle that clutch. Glad to hear it will get better with the more miles I put on, because I don't have a problem doing that! I love this site and appreciate all the advice and thank you ladies for posting some great pics  :2vrolijk_21:

You look great on that bike! I noticed, do the gloves fit well? I like using the Helde Kangaroo skins. They fit the hand better and they're soft giving  more "feel".  It can make the clutch feel lighter. The heavier winter gloves doesn't do it for me. Too much bulk and tires out my hand. Just my preference.

I have had a VPC on all my bikes for years now, Have one on my present SERG and it works to reduce the lever pull by about 1/3 of the stock Hydro clutch, A blessing for Arthritic hands.   Doc

works perfectly - and does more than just reducing the pull. You'll never again search for N and it makes both starting off and slow maneuvring much easier.
