Light modulator for rear light on 09SERG
« on: August 03, 2010, 04:19:49 PM »

Saw a bike in Calif last week that when the brake was applied the rear light were bright from side to side, very fast. I know Kury makes a peace for bike but it will not fit the 09 SERG? Any suggestion another product. It really made the bike while braking stand out.

Mike,  I think I have your answer.  Jim Kerr installed a system some time ago:  Alternating Break Lights on SERG

You might want to check vehicle code in your state before installing.  I think in some states flashing red lights side to side are illegal except for emergency vehicles.

I not sure this would work with the rear lights on the 09 SERG?

I had the "Back Off" modulator for my '08 SERK and liked it a lot.  I took it off when I traded my SERK for my '09 SERG.

A buddy of mine has an '09 SERG with the Wig Wag system and for me it's still a bit confusing when using a turn signal when braking.

In my case I purchased the chopped Tour-Pak and also the LED spoiler for the chopped Tour-Pak.

I used my Back Off modulator on the the LED spoiler only and kept the standard LED tail lights from HD functioning as stock.

This gets people's attention and still maintains full individual brake/turn LED functions.

Per the Back Off instructions, their system is 50 state legal as well as the headlight modulator I've installed on the SERG.

The Back Off has settings that allow for a flashing of 4 flashes and then a solid brake light for 4 seconds and then repeating the sequence over and over as long as you hold on the brake lights.  It can also flash and then stay on solid until you let off and reapply the brakes.

I like my head light and tail light modulators a lot.  My head light modulator gets a lot of attention and I've ridden behind police without any issues.

Good luck with your light options.

Big Lew,sorry i missed your followup . The co-magination unit works fine with the LED's on our serg's as would a "Back-off" unit . the headlight unit is an attention getter. a group of us were headed out on a Sunday ride one morning and the front 2 bikes had the headlight units on and severall cages pulled over while coming at us ,i think they thought we riding a funeral.
