Are the 110s sorted now
« on: March 25, 2011, 05:09:36 PM »

Hi, I've just bought a red CVO Road glide, due to pick it up next Friday, I can't wait , am I correct in thinking that most of the 110 problems have been sorted or am I being too optimistic, I had an 08 cvo ultra which did have some problems prior to the recall

most problems have been sorted yes.

Will you get a good one, well that purely luck of the draw.........

the MOCO motors of today has inherant design and poor quality control failings, best of luck with yours!

Hi Chris,

Congrats on the purchase, I'm picking up my Frosted Ivory on Tuesday.

As far as problems, I think the 110 is now as reliable as any other Harley Motor  ;)

Enjoy the bike.

Congrats on the new bike, hope you have many safe and trouble free miles.

To answer your question truly no one can tell you its a one off thing, but if you were to ask texas_103, he has a 2011 SERGU and with less than 2k miles the crank was out .006+.   Inherently I think the leaks are gone, but the piston slap, crank runout, and overall heat from this engine are still there.   How long will each last good question, longest I have seen without issue seems to be 25-30k miles and then something seems to bite the owner.   Best advice is either buy and extended warranty or take the bull by the horns and make the needed modifications to make the motor last.

Put on pipes / A/C and tune the motor.
Change the cam to something that has overlap

To go one step further:
Crank weld pin / true balanced
Check the heads for guides / valves etc

Dont have to go crazy on mods of the motor, but just enough resolve the moco's epa compliance and cheapness.

I am sure you'll do fine with your 110, and hope you have many trouble free miles, with that said......

Everyone is going to have some issues with the bike they purchase, how you get them resolved is the key. Work with the dealer whenever possible (mine has been helpful most every time), when they give you the run around you'll have the choice to fight/argue or fix the problem yourself.

Example: I chose to replace my compensator before something else failed because of it. I also chose not to ask the dealer to do it under warranty, I thought it was the best thing for the motor :)
