With the counterbalancers in the 88b motor - is it safe to supercharge?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I'm curious, what kind of numbers can you get supercharging a twin cam and would it be different as for durability doing one on a 95" SE II motor?

Depends on the amount of boost (ie: gearing) I believe 20 to 25 psi boost should close to double your HP. [smiley=pumpkin.gif]

Been there done that! Magna Charger has a charger for B motors. I would never do one again for the power gains. For the eye candy? Without a doubt. The 20-25 pounds of boost posted above would never happen on a street motor with a Magna Charger. 5-7 is about the norm. The one on the purple bike was set for 7-9 pounds. It would only run good on race fuel. It would run hot on pump gas unless you were on the highway. On that note I have another one here in the garage off of a Merch 131" set up with dual Mikuni's.

In hind site a turbo or a stroker would have been less money and resulted in more power hence why my new bike is a 124" with dual Mikuni's. I'd like to give a turbo a shot. From my knowledge of them with diesel's they make some great power and are relatively easy on parts.

Back to the original post. IMO I'd invest the money in a stroker of some sort if your after the power gain. Forget the advertised claims.

For comparison purposes. The supercharged 100" RT was about a equal match for a worked TP 113". The TP was quicker off the line and on roll ons. The RT had the top end in the gears and overall (after it built boost).

I almost bought a Woodys super charger a month or so ago.
They make them just south of Denver.  I got a price on a chrome model and it was right at $5300 if I remember correctly.  He said you would also have to put on a set of Rhinehart duels for them to work right. So that was another $600 to $800 depending on where you get them.
I decided for the $6000 plus or more it would cost to do it all I could buy a used Hayabusa. For the same money as the super charger setup I would have about 180 HP on a 480 pound bike. Not 115 to 120 HP on a 800 pound bike.  Then I could leave my HD alone and ride it for what it is, a cool looking, great sounding all around nice bike for touring or just putting around.  Then Kawasaki had to throw a wrench in my thoughts by putting out a 200 HP right off the showroom floor Ninja model. That would be some fun chit too, need to save a few more denaroes I guess.

I saw two of those Kawasaki's in Daytona, big bikes. I'm curious if they are really making what Kawasaki is claiming? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Than again a used 5/6K Busa with a $3500 turbo kit putting a conservative 225hp to the pavement will leave a few pennies for replacement tires.  ;)

Suzuki will be building a Super Busa in 2007 I hear, Im sure it will do the Ninja one better.  I ran a 40 shot of nitrous on one last year with a set of Muzzy side winders. It dynoed at 235 HP and ran high 8's in the quarter.  That was with an 10 inch extended swing arm and slamned, air shifter etc.
Sure miss that kind of performance it was awe inspiring to say the least.

I've been holding off waiting for the rumored 1500cc Busa. I don't know why either? It's not like a stock 1300 doesn't move right along.

Here's a picture of my current Busa.

That much boost would lift the heads right off of the cylinders. If you can get it to hold together it would be fun!!!!! Maybe a little GAS to go along with it!

Very nice Busa, Puzzled.  My son had one just like it for awhile.
How do you like the dual exhaust set up.  I have run the Yosh 4 into 1 and the Muzzy side winders on the race bikes.  The Muzzy worked great with the nitrous and sounded bad as hell.

The Busa I had last year I blew the transmission up launching it too hard at the strip.  Busted the output shaft off right at the sprocket, nitrous is some nasty stuff if you abuse it. I decided to forgo the progressive controller and launch with a full shot.  It was one hell of a ride the first 3 runs, then pop. I was getting 1.45 sixty foot times before it snapped, I was thrilled.  I had the tranny rebuilt at Orient Express with undercut gears just for drag racing and a new Turbo (300+ HP) in the box ready to go on (no more nitrous). Then I lost my steam for some reason and sold it all.  I'm probably getting a little too old for those rockets but I still want another.  Maybe when the new Busa comes out I will pull the trigger.
