I just picked up my new CVO Road Glide. I'm coming off of am 08' CVO Ultra. I did some slow speed figure eights in the parking lot. The Road Glide feels a bit easier to turn than the Ultra but generally in the same ball park. These are heavy machines.
I had the Stage 1 / tuner stuff done on the Ultra, so I expected that a brand new stock motor would feel a little softer. Not so! This thing pulls strong at WFO. I didn't wind it up too far, but it feels strong for now.
The best part is the wind protection. I could never hear the stereo at highway speeds on the Ultra because of wind noise in the helmet and I used to get my glasses bounced around. There seems to be far less wind on the Road Glide. I ran for about six miles in the 75 to 85 range and could hear the stereo just fine with no head buffeting.
It takes a few minutes to get used to the windshield/fairing being further away, and it makes it seem like a bigger bike, but overall no big deal. I'm truly pleased with the wind situation which is what I was hoping for. I'm on the short side at 5'6" and have stock shields on both the Ultra and Glide. I don't think I'll have to start researching aftermarket shields.
Bottom line: This is one fine ride!!
