FLTRUSE First Ride
« on: April 19, 2011, 07:12:40 PM »

I just picked up my new CVO Road Glide. I'm coming off of am 08' CVO Ultra. I did some slow speed figure eights in the parking lot. The Road Glide feels a bit easier to turn than the Ultra but generally in the same ball park. These are heavy machines.

I had the Stage 1 / tuner stuff done on the Ultra, so I expected that a brand new stock motor would feel a little softer. Not so! This thing pulls strong at WFO. I didn't wind it up too far, but it feels strong for now.

The best part is the wind protection. I could never hear the stereo at highway speeds on the Ultra because of wind noise in the helmet and I used to get my glasses bounced around. There seems to be far less wind on the Road Glide. I ran for about six miles in the 75 to 85 range and could hear the stereo just fine with no head buffeting.

It takes a few minutes to get used to the windshield/fairing being further away, and it makes it seem like a bigger bike, but overall no big deal. I'm truly pleased with the wind situation which is what I was hoping for. I'm on the short side at 5'6" and have stock shields on both the Ultra and Glide. I don't think I'll have to start researching aftermarket shields.

Bottom line: This is one fine ride!!

:apple:  Congrats on the new ride!!  Yes when I brought mine hope a week ago tomorrow I thought the power range was very good, the wind from what I was reading on here had me really worried, not a problem at all and have now been out in some mighty good wind.
Now for the big question for you, you gave your height and I am 5'10' and feel the height of this machine when backing out of the garage, are you satisfied with the height of the seat?  I was considering lowering 1" but have been told otherwise for now....Oh yes where is the picture of the new ride???  Ride, ride, ride and enjoy the new scooter!!

I had this lowered, as was my Ultra.  I put the 'premium' shocks on along with the shorter 'Harley' fork springs.  It never seemed to present a problem on the Ultra.  I scraped a lot, but usually when riding more aggressively than most.  When I was scraping, so was anyone keeping up with me.

Welcome to the Shark tank!
I also have the Ivory and Gold model. I have yet to see another in my neck of the woods.
I updated mine with 2" Fullsac CVO muffler cores, Fullsac X pipe and a TTS Mastertune.
You should feel the power with those mods!
Best of luck with the new scoot.
