   I stopped by the local H.D. Dealer today looking for some pre- 2013 CVO release information. My Dealer Principle told me this years release will be August 20th in Vegas, 6 weeks late this year due to the factory production line shut down for 2013 models. He also said MOCO will NOT be in Sturgis this year due to late production for the 2013 model announcement.
  Most dealers nationwide are currently sold out of Touring Bikes, ie; Street Glide and Road Glides most popular units sold in 2012, and  are unable to make dealer to dealer trades due to lack of dealer inventory nationwide. MOCO did not advise dealers of this shutdown until late May 2012.
   Several H.D. Dealer Business plans for 2012 are not being met due to lack of MOCO production for the 3rd quarter of this year, hopefully 4th quarter will rebound pending new model Retail acceptance.
   Does this shut down indicate major changes for the 2013  production models?   E.P.A.  /  Water Cooled Engines, etc.

Local dealers here in the central florida area seem to have baggers both batman and sharknose.  Just dont see many CVO's atm.

That would be news to the dealer here.  I was just out there today and they had at least 3 of every model touring bike Harley has plus 2 trikes, and more Heritage Softails then you could shake a stick at.

Looks to me like the MOCO will be in Sturgis. Just no new bikes.

Okay class, repeat after me:  "I will not trust my Harley dealer!"  It sounds like someone is misinformed or misleading you.  Can you imagine Harley not attending the nations largest bike rally?  Not happening!   I had my SERG serviced today at Bartel's in Marina del Rey, CA. The dealership is packed with bikes both new and used. They have plenty of Street Glides and two CVO Ultras (yellow and orange).  The CARB filings have been released with no major changes.  There are threads about the 2013 models.  The water cooled motor is coming but not just yet.  Google this:  US Patent #20110114044.

At least five model years of water cooled engines before I'd entertain the idea of buying one.....took 'em 4 or 5 years to get the 'bugs' outa the 110.

Nothing new.....the same as previous years.....misinformation or intentional misleading information by the dealers.    Some things never change.

I was told by the MoCo that the shutdown was for technical updates in the factory
and it was supposed to happen back in April but they decided to wait till the end of
the model year instead. It doesn't have anything to do with any new models for the
2013 model year. It is supposed to be a 30 day shutdown.

Had a chat with my dealer this past weekend about the "late" release. He says it was at the request of dealers. It gives them more time to sell out the last of the current model year at a time when sales are good. As an aside, he could use more bikes than he can get. He did have 2 CVO Ultra's. Always MSRP.

In that world you want "1 too few" rather then "1 too many" bikes. Hard to nail that equation though..

I know our local dealers were allowed a late "supplemental order" due to short supply.

The only remaining  '12 CVO's here is an ultra that was a dealer demo and has about 600 miles.

Deluxe's, Fatboy's are NOWHERE right now. the good thing is its driving used values up.
