Weather guessers
« on: August 24, 2006, 08:55:56 AM »

Along the lines of the thread in the the EG forum.

When planning my some of my rides, expecially to work (in 8am one day leave 8am the next day) I use

http://www.my-cast.com/

This is free, no pop-ups, no junk email etc web site.

You do have to register. The forecast is usually accurate, but what I use most is the looping radar. You can add cities or zip codes for favorite areas and see the "weather at a glance in those spots, or better yet, with the loop on and zoomed out some, you can see what is coming.

The attached picture shows heavy rain has passed through my area this morning and clearing skies are on the way.

Looping Infrared satellite pictures are also available which show cloud cover.

porthole,

Are you viewing the radar on your phone, PC, or both. I know that the current radar java-loop that NWS uses is not WAP friendly but I do know that NWS is working on a mobile version.

NJ Area Radar

You can also pull down the KML data for display on google earth.

no-rain

Just the PC. I have a nextel, and there are just too many extra fees to have anything downloaded to it.

It's all about the search tool, and using the right "keywords". [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] It also helps that I've probably read every thread/post on the site (ok I guess I do have a lot of time). :o
