575 cams and thunder max ??
« on: September 04, 2006, 09:54:22 AM »

Question... wondering who on this site has installed the 575 cams, thunder max package and either the rinehart/fat cat on their Cvo ?
Really curious about  an "exact" package that Zippers has a T-max pre-mapped for performs.  Any ridability promblems or tweeking of the T-max map other than the I.a.c learn needed?

would you do it again?

I have the 575 w/ gear drives, D&D  Fat Cats, TMax and 50 MM Throttle body with Zippers Air Cleaner.  I used a stock map from Zippers websiteand its fairly close but needs to be tweaked a little.  http://thunder-max.com/Support/FuelInjectionInstructions.aspx

The bike runs really good, starts great , idles good, no hesitation, no backfiring on decel, but I know I have another few HP hiding there in the A?F mixture see the chart

Here si my dyno base run without any changes to the Zippers base map.

You need to get that air fuel flattened out...

I think you have a lot more HP/TQ there...

I made them flatten mine out the last tune and it added five to each
HP and Tourqe...

No shop around here wants to dyno tune the TMax- it is all PCIII territory out west.  Although he said he thought it should be about 106/106 when properly tuned.  I gave it a few tweaks but don't really wnat ot spend 100 bucks each time I fool around wiht the map to see if I am improving it.   I am hoping Zippers will straighten it out.

Twolane,  don't know much about the closed loop system.  Is that available now, and is the total cost of it $400?  Is it an add on to the T-Max or what. Welding the bungs on is a minor detail.

....I'm probably a couple weeks away from a parts order that will have to include that decision myself......
Hmmm, sounds like parts are getting close to be on the way back from powder coating if they are not already. ;) [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Then will it be tear-down time? Or perhaps we are just going for the 103 Muscle Kit? That doesn't require any work done to the cases, or does it? ;D

Nope, wasn't thinking about the Twintec.

No D00d, just doing the "103 Muscle Kit" specifically because I don't want to screw with splitting the cases and want a task that's done in a weekend when the parts get back.  Quite frankly they should have already been back but SUMAX was a huge CF so far as time was concerned.  Parts finally left there last week and are at Diamond Heads now.  Supposed to leave for Zippers before the end of the week and Zippers suggests a couple weeks with them before they're ready to send back to me.

Were it not for losing close to six weeks (and one cylinder) to SUMAX everything would have actually been back to me maybe a week or so ago.  Would have all been done with plenty of time prior to Maggie Valley.  Hell, who am I kidding, I would've torn it apart ASAP and it would have been done by now....

As is though I might have everything back in hand before Maggie Valley.  But having it done before then is not a likely alternative.

Are you doing or do you already have the GP Designs Twin Cam Outer Bearing Support? Reason I ask is I know w/just the 575 Cams we are getting close to the limitations of the crank bearings. Was just wondering what your thoughts were on this. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] BTW - What are the ballpark/projected HP/TQ numbers that Zippers is saying will be produced by this upgrade?
