Street Glide 120R VS 2015 CVO.
« on: July 29, 2014, 03:22:13 AM »

Having trouble finding a 2014 Road King CVO, last one slipped through my hands as I am having to buy whilst finishing work in Asia prior to returning to BC. Found a 2014 SG Special with a 120R crate motor used as a demo, with about 1200kms recorded. Dealer quoting what looks like list for the parts, not sure if a brand new 103 = installation and set up for the crate motor.

I am also tempted to wait to see what new CVO's come out in the 2015 model year, which I guess will be known by the end of August.

New to HD, other than hiring, but keen to hear any thoughts or advice from experienced forum members. Thanks

HD is supposed to show the 2015 lineup at Sturgis, so that's only the end of the week. Once they introduce them there, it will be all over there website, I'm sure.

I noticed at the HD dealer recently that the CVO Heritage did not have a 6 gallon tank. I would hope that if they come out with a 120R in a Heritage or Road King ( maybe the Road Kings already have a 6 gallon tank) that whatever model it was in would have a 6 gallon tank. Sometimes I go 180 miles or more between fill ups always with BSR and lots of luggage so I probably don't get the mileage some of you do. I hope the 120R gets really good mileage. If you do long trips that extra gallon comes in handy CAHDBIKER.

Steve are you positive on this? I know the past few years they've dropped the ball on doing this. I hope you're correct because I've got a deposit on the first 2015 my dealer gets. I just don't know what colors are yet.

Let's just say I'm only 100% sure. Dealers already have the color options for most all the lineup and some have stated they have it for all models.

I get the same mileage (more or less) on my 120r as I did on my 110.

I wouldn't think the SG/120r would have any warranty at all?

Dillon's in Omaha, NE stated MOCO will not be releasing bikes at Sturgis and will be doing it in Nashville like last year at annual dealer meetings. Gives dealers more time to clear out 2014's. Sales guy I talked to wished they'd do them sooner though.

Boy are they in for a surprise then.

I love my 2014 S.G. Special,  and if I were in the (market),  and a chance for a S.G.S with a 120R..........came available,  and the price were somewhat reasonable..........I'd jump right on it. :drink:

I do not see a 120R anytime soon. While they are most likely working on something, they just came out with the whole Rushmore program this model year(2014). If the past is looked at they do not do much but everything 4 - 5 years with the power train. Now 2016- 2017 there are a few big changes in emissions laws so that may make things change but before the I'm expecting them to be pretty much the same as they are now.
