Howie, from another site!!!
It looks like the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC is really closing at the end of this season. They're going to relocate west. That's the bad news.
The good news is that their final exhibit in North Carolina features Police Motorcycles. Its called "MotorCops: A 100 Year Love Affair Between Police and Motorcycles", and runs through Thanksgiving.
I was there for the opening a few weeks ago and it looks great. They have several images and memorabilia on display. And of course they are featuring vintage Police machines. I believe they have added bikes since I was there.
If you go, please note a certain modern FLHTP-I that probably looks out of place. I was honored to be asked to display it in this exhibit, in contrast to the vintage machines throughout the museum. I'm 6.5 hours away and I miss my putt.
I'd love to get an update, or better yet a picture, in response to this posting.I wish I could hang out at the museum to catch some of the stories. While I was there, an officer from a town in Alabama was checking out the radar rig on my bike. I asked him if it looked authentic. He said he didn't know, he used stopwatches. Ah, technology.
