Pictures of your garage/workshop
« on: May 12, 2007, 12:19:04 AM »

Hey guys,
I know this has been covered before but I can't find the thread. I would like to see pictures of your garages/ workshops.
I am moving into a new house and have to set up the garage ASAP before we move in. My present shop is pretty good but this time I have free reign!!

Time to show off guys!!!

Jim, couldn't tell this from your picture.  The hole made for the lift looks to have a very close fit.  Where does the air line run?  And is washing the floor a problem leaving water pooled or at least puddled up around the lift?

I mounted the lift pedal to the top of the lift next to the chock, I just connect the hose when I want to raise or lower it. The clearance around the lift is about 3/4" total so water will get into the hole. A wet/dry shop vac takes care of the cleaning.

HD dude, I have often thought about sinking a lift into the floor.
You lose about 5-6 inches in total lift height though...not too sure that would work.
Most every time I used the lift it is up to the highest position!!

Come on guys... they must be more of you that want to show off your hang outs!!

Keep the pictures coming

You do loose the height but I have to tell you that I would not have it any other way. It is so nice rolling into the condor chock!! I do most all of my work on a stool and its at the perfect height.

Here's something I do in my garage that may or may not interest you. I don't like hard floors for several reasons. One is that when you drop something it bounces and ends up 10 ft from where you dropped it. Two, they're always cold Three, I like soft carpet under my feet Sooooo what I do is this. I live in SoCal where the housing density is pretty high. As such, there's always one of my neighbors having their carpet replaced. So when the stuff on my garage floor gets too crappy, I head over to whoever is having their house re-done, ask em if they have any plans for the old stuff and if not, can I leave a roll of carpet for the installers to haul off. So far it's always been yes yes so I roll up the crappy stuff on the floor of my garage and leave it in the neighbors driveway, pick out the best pieces of what they just had ripped out of their house and re-do my garage floor. Everyone who comes over loves it. With all the posters on the walls, and the old recliners etc, it's like a clubhouse. I've got a Handy Bob 1500 lift, 7.5 hp twin cylinder multi-stage compressor, a pile of air tools and all the handtools I need to take an H-D apart and put it back together. Cool Beans !

No matter how hard I try, when I change oil I get it on the floor.
Change oil today on 4 bikes.
15 quarts of oil.
14 in bikes.
1 on the floor.
Really makes me ill!

Chip,
Got to WALMART and bye the biggest plastic dishpan you can find. Cut the sides of it down enough so it fits under your bike. Drain all the fluids into it and don't touch it till everything is done dripping. Don't worry about your magnetic plugs, fish them out of the pan of oil when everything is done draining. I see guys trying to catch the plug so it doesn't go in the drip pan and oil gets all over the place. Sound familiar. Try my method and see how you do. That warm oil feels good on my arthritic hands too when I go fishin for the plugs  :2vrolijk_21:
