The first time I had a chance to see and visit with Martha and Jorge since I broke my hip in Florida last year.....they came to town with the HOG Pony Express possee. Remember the 8th grade history, the pony express started in Sacramento and went to St. Joseph, Mo. for a couple of years before the transcontinental telegraph was completed.

We decided to take Jorge and Martha down to old Sacramento.....to the actual building where the Pony Express actually started from at 2:45 a.m. that first morning.

Martha got this shot for all you guys.....life on the river in Sacramento. This photo was actually taken from the deck of the Delta King......it's now permanently docked in Old Sacramento and is now a hotel and several lounges and restaurants.

A view of the stern of the Delta King.

This was an original paddle wheel river boat that ran up and down the Sacramento River from Sacramento to San Francisco. The sister boat (identical build) is the Delta Queen and ran up and down the Mississippi. I'm pretty sure that's the river boat that we saw when JR took us down to the river in Memphis.

Terrie, Jon and I had a great time with Martha and Jorge last night. They left for Yosemite National Park this morning. They'll be back here tomorrow afternoon. We'll leave here and head for the Napa Valley, then on into San Francisco for dinner.

Terrie, Melanie and I look forward to showing them around the bay area.

Quite obvioulsy the fastest and prettiest CVO's that were there. The addition of the Indiana tag not only adds OUTSTANDING eye candy, but it also magically drops 100lbs off the bike while simultaneously adding a 20% boost across the entire rpm range!

They returned to Sacramento yesterday afternoon. We immediatly left for the Napa Valley. Was going to visit a winery but we didn't arrive till about 5:15 p.m. .......fifteen minutes to late.

At one point Jorge pulled up beside us and said "today I brake every traffic law there is!". We explained to him that it's not quite that bad........lane splitting is legal in Calif.

But riding the sholder to get past miles of stopped cars might get him a ticket.

This is about where I'm wondering "where did Jorge disappear to?". All of a sudden I look the next lane over and Jorge come squeezing up between the cars with a big grin on his face and says "I learn!" as he's lane splitting.

Lane splitting is a way of life in the bay area if you ride. Not much choice for an air cooled motor.

Through mixed communication, Terrie and I ended up at the Holiday Inn by Dudly Perkins while Jorge and Martha ended up with reservations at the Holiday Inn Express, a block down. Let me just say that while the rates were the same, the Holiday Inn was a very noise hotel, even up on the six floor an the Express had a free breakfast. Next time we'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Express if we need to stay in that area.

Here's where we bid our friends fairwell. Jorge leaves his bike at Dudley Perkins to be shipped back to Florida. Their hotel is just around the corner and they catch their plane very early tomorrow. Hopefully, they've gone to bed early to get caught up on some of the much needed rest after putting the past week to the extreme.

Mi amigo Dave & Donna......we had to leave the hotel in Carson City early in the morning because we had to go Dayton, NV to an event which was sceduled at the last time and then we rode from there to Reno.....really sorry!!

Marty, yea, most of my spanish is conversational so writing is difficult to say the least. I can't even spell in english with out spell check so online trasnslation is often a must. It's fun to try though. Rogelio

It looks like the Nor Cal tour was fun also, wish I could have extended the vacation and gone with you. I had to head back to Nebraska....
