I knew the N to 1 heavy clunk was due to clutch drag.  What I didn't know was whether the Amsoil Super Shift would stop the clunk AND hold up to heavy heat.

My test this morning was starting it in Neutral, then let it warm up maybe 2 mins while I back out the driveway & put the gloves on.  Then, pull in the clutch & into 1st without hesitation.  Perfect.  So far, the big clunk is definitely gone.  There's still the usual (modest) Harley N/1 gear clash, which sounds cool if you ask me, but it's not like I'm hittin' the gears with a sledge hammer.  I'm sure I could quiet it down even further by holding the clutch in for 3-4 seconds while the gears slow down, but I wanted to give it a real test.  I'm tired of thinking about it every time I start off, and just want to shift into gear and go.  WHY anyone would recommend Syn3 in the primary I'll never know.  Harley could just as easy label their own primary fluid.

I gave 'er a good hard ride yesterday, to build up some heat, and it held up real well.  BUT, nothing compares to a July/August ride through Arizona.  Heading to Sturgis in 2 weeks -- I'll find out how the primary parts hold up to the extreme heat and report back.

I have been using ATF in the primary for years. I rarely mention it, tends to raise eyebrows from the experts. Lol.
Definitely helps the 1st gear clunk. Clutch works very smooth. The transfer case in my late model Dodge uses ATF. It has a chain. The auto trans has clutches. Kinda makes sense when you think about it.

Along with the Jim's 131 I added the Rivera Pro Clutch and now it shifts way smoother no more hard clunk.

Overkill for a stock 96inch, but great for your Jim's.  I had a Pro Clutch in my previous RG -- 105tq/108hp.  Perfect.

The clunk is all about clutch drag.

When I put the Barnett clutch kit in the red bike the company strongly recommended just plain old Type F ATF.

Did you do it?

And if so, how is it working and for how long?

Yes.  Actually use ATF in the primary in both bikes.  Though rather than Brand X type F stuff I did grab a synthetic just to pacify myselft for a little better heat tolerance.

Works fine.  No issues at all and no deterioration in any kind of "feel."  At 5k service intervals fluid doesn't smell hot or burned and nothing unexpected in the drainage.

I have Redline Shockproof in the tranny. And I have used it in other bikes. It does make it better but the biggest difference was the Clutch change.
