trans fluid amount in a 2009 road glide
« on: September 06, 2009, 07:57:32 AM »

picked up my new road glide yesterday. I noticed neutral being a bitch to find. I switched to redline. But the dealership did not have any manuals yet.So I am unsure on the level and how to cjheck it. so a quart came out. .I put a full quart back in, but it is restering add on the dipstick. And that is with the bike standing sraight up, with the dipstick resting on the threads, (not threaded in)

I believe the checking procedure changed for the Cruise Drive bikes, and you now check the trans fluid on the jiffy stand.

When you say the dealer doesn't have manuals yet, are you talking about shop manuals or the owner manual?  The owner manual should have come with the bike from H-D, and it also should have the capacities for the fluids listed as well as the checking procedure.  The shop manuals usually do lag behind the bike introductions, but not the owner manuals.

thanks all!
I just changed the trans fluid in my 09 SEUC to Readline Heavy Duty Shockproof.  I put 32 oz in. My owners manuel says to check on the jiffy stand when the engine reaches normal operating temp. After you wipe off the dipstick it sayes to place it in the filler hole and do not thread in. Mine showed above the add mark halfway to the full mark.  My owner's manuel ( not service manuel) on page 153 has this info and sayes not to overfill or leakage could occur. I think the most important part is to have the bike at normal operating temp. I hope this helps. CAHDBIKER
