looks like that's a happenin'. The "stealers" don't make it easy for themselves at all..The things that I have seen and read give them a really bad name and most would rather do it themselves or try almost anyplace else for service. We know that when we take out bike in, we are rolling the dice and hoping that they do what they are asked to do and not make things worse or damaging anything. Kind of what goes around, comes around. This is a rather expensive hobby, they should remember that when we show up a give them "work".   Don'tcha think??? :nixweiss:  Do it right and be fair.  That's all.

I did not see it posted,

Millville HD closed in May and it's satellite in Wildwood HD closed.
They were building a new store in Vineland which obviously stopped construction.

One of the best dealers in the southeast announced it will close for good after serving the Carolina's for 20 plus years Carolina HD Gastonia NC  made the decision public today. Clic and Dian Baldwin built the dealership from nothing to a mega dealership .Clic Baldwin was killed in 2008 on his way from the dealer show to Sturgis . Dian has held on ,but with the current economy  she is forced to close . The Motor Company has also decided to retire the dealership # . This is bad news for the HD owner in the Charlotte NC area  ,CHD was a top notch dealer that stould behind their service and sales and will be greatly missed. In my opinion the Motor Co. should have closed one of the other local dealers and found someone to take the Carolina HD dealership.

Just announced that Albany HD in Georgia will be closing and consolidating into what was the satellite shop in Tifton, GA
Tifton is in process of a huge expansion which will make it a must stop along I-75 in Georgia.

Peninsula H-D (Redwood City, CA) opened back in 1975, and really treated their customers right. Damn shame to see yet another good dealership go under.  :'(

Is the MoCo telling these places to close? Or is it just the owners racking-up alot of debt? Why dont they just sell the franchise so it stays open? :nixweiss:

because you can not sell the franchise without MoCo approval of the new owner. And this is a very painfull procedure.

Usually Harley prefers to install a new dealership instead of having the old one sold and presently they want to get rid of a large percentage of shops anyway.

When the owner of Harley Davidson of Sacramento was closing the Elk Grove dealership last year, their email said that the MoCo has asked all owners that had more than one store front in the same regional area to close their additonal stores over the next year.

The owner of Twin Falls owns a number of dealerships in Idaho, Arizona and Reno.  :nixweiss:

Difficult to sell a business that is losing money.  Harley will be replacing some markets where the dealer goes away, but most are being put on indefinite hold as the MoCo tries to right size the amount of dealers.

I know that's what Jay said, but that's not true.  Harley has pointed out to many dealers with more than one store front in the same market that the current level of business does not support this.  However, most of these dealers don't need to hear from the MoCo what their bottom line is already telling them.
