You can add Oak Lawn H-D in Oak Lawn, Illinois to the list it was sold to a joint venture between Illinois H-D and Wild Fire H-D. Dealership will be closed and a new dealership ( yet to be named ) will be opened in Countryside, Illinois roughly @ LaGrange and Joliet rd.  This was my Fathers dealership and he  never had any thing bad to say about it.  Sad!!!

Recieved this today in an email
Hey folks,

We all had heard that Harley-Davidson wanted to close more dealerships in Chicagoland, well another one has been announced...Oak Lawn Harley-Davidson will close its doors on December 31st.  It seems the recent buy-out was really a closure in disguise.  For details see http://www.harley-oaklawn.com/aboutus.asp

It's sad to see yet another HOG chapter closed, and the membership pushed out the door to other dealers.  The Oak Lawn HOG members are certainly welcome at Homeless Hawgs...maybe a northern chapter of this south side group is in the making.

There is a store closing sale going on, but I already bought most everything I needed and then some at Crete.  I'm sure there is something else I desperately need though?

Now lets be careful out there!

I have just heard that 3dealers in England are about to close there doors before Xmas

Dock Gate 20, in Southampton and Thames Valley HD are from the same ownership of Magic group, Stratstone in Birmingham is also closing

seems to have been bad management and not MOCO pulling the plugs

Just had an update from a friend in Oxford HD
Thames valley has closed. Gone bust. Dg20 sold but I am not sure who too. Stratstone have closed stadiumhd but only so they can open a new one in Stoke.

Wow, I haven't visited this thread in a while. I live about 100 miles fro mCrete, and last visited that store in the early summer when they had a big shindig for snap-On that weekend. I bought a t-shirt and one for my daughter too. I got some pics around here somewhere. That was a big building with a lot of bikes, but I have to admit... the sales staff were dicks that day. I always liked the little dealership down in Manteno better.

There's two small dealerships about 15 miles of each direction from me, and I swear I think everytime I walk in both of them, they look like they could close any day.

Jim Bailey's Harley Davidson in Fort Wayne Indiana is now Fort Wayne Harley Davidson and Jim and Marcia are no longer there?
Not sure what the details are with the change in ownership / management.

Never was a place for making a good deal maybe the new owners will be more negotiable?

I guess my BCHD shirt is now a collectors item!  Uh, sure

This does not surprise me, Paula and I rode in from Aspen that morning and were excited about being in CO. we were about to ride South on hwy 550 thur Ouray. Every person working there was talking to eachother and had non to little time for any customers not just use. We bought our Shirts and left , I told Paula "this stop was a waste of time"

 BUT : I do have a couple of t-shirts  :huepfenlol2:

I visited a shop in Grand Junction back in about '93... I think it was called Old McDonald's Hog Farm or something like that. I don't have the shirt anymore, but it was pretty neat.

I got a shirt from Ann Arbor HD, and the one in Crete was Crete HD.

It's kinda sad what happens to these places. People lose jobs, customers have to travel farther for parts, service and new bikes. The owners, I'm sure, have a rough go at it. What happens to these stores/buildings. I'm sure they're not easy to sell because they are usually pretty elaborate and don't appeal to most businesses looking for real estate.

I mean, I guess it's good to thin the herd, but the fallout is pretty expansive.

Interesting......a windfall for Fairfield and Oakland HD because they'll pick up a majority of the customers.

Harley-Davidson of Vallejo Announces Dealership Closing
After over 20 years of service, it is with mixed emotion that we announce to our customers, vendors and friends that Harley-Davidson of Vallejo will officially be closing its doors. The downturn of the economy, coupled with factors that caused the inability for the dealership to expand, has unfortunately led Harley-Davidson of Vallejo to make this tough decision.

We are progressively working with Harley-Davidson Motor Company as we transition our staff for the closing of the dealership. Rest assured that we will continue to serve our customers during this process. Please review the following information that our departments have set moving forward:

# All customers’ motorcycles that are currently at our dealership for service work will be 100% completed.
# Our Service Department will only be accepting new service work daily via walk-ins. We ask that you phone us at 707.643.1413 to confirm that your bike can be accommodated.
# While our Parts and MotorClothes Departments will continue to service and carry a working inventory, they will be unable to accept any new special orders.
# We are actively selling New and Pre-Owned motorcycles.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding in regards to the economical hardships that we, along with many businesses are now facing. With that in mind, we believe that a business should only operate at a level that would enrich and benefit customers at the highest standards possible.

It is with great respect, gratitude and thanks that we have for you. We will have further details on upcoming activities that we will be conducting to celebrate our customers. Please watch for additional announcements to come.

Deepest regards from our entire staff at Harley-Davidson of Vallejo.
