The FLHTCUSE is now at 39.000 euros. It's 2.000 euros more than last year for the 2011 model. >:(

Lunacy.  I'd like to think they'll all sit on the showroom floors till they drop the price, but I know they won't......  :nixweiss:

I have to cop to NOT reading all 19 pages.  Maybe old news as it relates to this thread.  I was surprised by the numbers in the first 5 and last several pages I did read.  Man!  I agree with many of the comments about dealer's relative expertise nowadays.  I think they, generally speaking, have fallen very far.  For example, picked up a screw in my rear tire (2011 FLTRUSE)  Bit the bullet and just had the dealer do the work. $318 out the door for the pleasure of having 57 pounds of air in the damn thing.  First several "chops" I hit I thought my spine was gonne shring about 3 inches.  Every inch counts no matter what yer talkin'!  ;D

Wiebs Roadhouse HD in Princeton, IL closing.  The MOCO wanted them to build a new store.  Small store but it's one minute from I-80. In this economy they chose to close it.  It's too bad the Motor Company has that much control.  This is a small store but I'll bet it's profitable.  Seemed like one of the better dealerships I've visited.

Up here in Canada...so long as the dealer is still flogging some overpriced HD wares that Deeley can make it's cut on...they'll keep it open...reguardless of service or anything else....How's that for a good business model?

Exactly what I'm saying, hogasm.  But why won't people get sensible instead of getting ass-raped, and just stop buying these bikes till it hurts the MoCo? That's the real question.  It doesn't do any "real" HD owner any favours - we end up being all classed as spoiled rich folks with a whole lot more money than sense, and basically get laughed at by folks in the real world.  :(  Bikes bought at upwards of US$50000 (A CUSE in India costs around - wait for this - US$80,000!!!) don't make us look like cool dudes, or lucky, or envied; they simply make us look as if we are fools, stupid to pay the price.  I don't care that in many countries - like the examples I gave yesterday of Switzerland, Austria, and Scandinavia - a big chunk is import duty; if the actual price of the bike was closer to reality, the duty would be a whole lot lower.

Nothing to do with having the money to pay for one, everything to do with having the wisdom not to.

I wonder if the number of new dealerships is equal to or greater than the ones disappearing?

Just found out that Gutterridge Harley-Davidson in Danville, IL.  closed back in March.  Checked out their website, still online and nothing about being closed.   www.gutterridgehd.com

Sure doesn't appear that they closed in March, with them showing current models just released for sale.  :confused5:  :nixweiss:

Don't know this and was too lazy to call the dealer phone number and actually find out rather than speculate.  But was on the phone with a buddy from Danville a few days ago who mentioned during the conversation this his local shop had gone indie.  Hadn't closed the doors just no longer a bona fide HD dealership.

Good luck to them for having the courage to ditch the MoCo, their draconian policies, and most of all their ridiculous pricing!   :2vrolijk_21:
