Riding to Hollister from L.A. for family stuff Friday. Going to take the best recommended route from you all. Up the 5 from here, what do you all suggest?  Wrongway

I'd head down Venice Blvd  from the 405 to 101 (PCH) and stay on it all the way up the coast. Sure you're gonna deal with some traffic till you clear Santa Monica, but after that it's a great ride. PCH is one the best rides in the USA dude

Coming from North LA, Lancaster, will hit the 5 at Gorman. Looking for routes off the 5. We love the coast, from here we head through Fraser Park to Santa Maria then up or down the 101. We have 50,000+ on our Springer, 43,000 on our old Ultra, and 5,000 so far on the CUSE. We head to the coast alot as this desert is just too hot in the summer. The Angeles Crest Highway has seen alot of us as well. Big Bear was our day ride on the 5th. Love the mountains and the coast.  Wrongway

Once you get to the Hollister area there's a lot of great riding.  You can take 68 to Carmel Valley Rd, 129 to Watsonville, there's always Carmel, Monterey, Aptos, Capitola, Santa Cruz, etc.  Some of my favorite riding spots are in the hills towards the coast, some great 2 lane roads...
