Legend in dash air pressure gauge
« on: July 20, 2007, 09:46:35 AM »

I see that Legend sells an  air pressure gauge that will replace the air temp gauge in the dash.
Has anybody done this, if so what do you think, good or bad. I know it will not match the others, but like the idea of being able to see
how much pressure is in the shocks.
I am one of those guys that like to see it and not just feel it!

Thanks
Ernie

If it were a mismatch to the other instruments I personally would not be interested.  Besides, an instrument is merely a visual indicator.  Isn't the viewed angle over the windscreen the same thing?

They stopped making the ones that attach to the rocker box cover, as the heat was having a detrimental effect...although Spydy still has his on, if I'm not mistaken.  Even if the gauge is oil filled, it's going to be all over the place running down the road, as every irregularity in the roads surface will cause movement of the needle.  It would be useful while sitting still.

But if the face of the gauge wasn't the spun aluminum, it would stick out like a sore thumb, IMO.

I have replaced the ambient temp gauge with an oil temp gauge that does have the matching gauge face. I feel that is the most useful gauge to replace the useless ambient/humitity temp gauge. (IMHO)

D rat,
Just for grins dropped legend a note about "new" gauge, here is reply;
John,

I am getting this e-mail as Kevin no longer works here. As to your questions we indeed do offer a dash mount kit for the 06’ Ultra. It is a billet housing that goes into the preexisting hole in the dash. You might have an ambient temp gauge there but it replaces it. The price is $135.00 retail; I have them in stock and can ship daily. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Have a great day!

Hey Hobo, is that a Harley part?  Part # available?  What temp does it usually read in the hotter months and in traffic?  :sunny: Do you dare to look at it?  :nixweiss: har!  :drink: spyder

My office is about a block away from Legend here in RC.  If you all want I can go over and return with a visual report.

A friend has the guage in a blue 04 SEEG.  The guage is black and doesn't look at all like the rest of the guages.  Even so, he's happy since having the guage down by the engine kept causing it to leak (heat)

I had a Legend air pressure gauge in the 03 Trike.  Replaced the air temp gauge.  Did not totally match the rest of the gauges but sorta close.  Also had an on-board air compressor, and control right below the gauge to pump up the suspension, or let air out.  The Trike was sensitive to the amount of air in the shocks (they were NOT H-D air shocks) with different weight carried.  The system had a automatic trigger that when the air pressure fell below a pre-set level it would turn on the compressor and stop at another pre-set level.  Compressor was mounted in the trunk but was pretty small.

Ride Safe.

I stopped into Legend and took a look at the guage.  It is the exact same guage that they used on the rocker box (maybe someone has a pic of theirs).  They have a black bezel made to fit the inner fairing but I don't think it would match.  One may be able to re-use the stock bezel at least that way you would have the chrome trim.   :nixweiss:

JJ,
you beat me to it, ryan sent me this:
The gauges that we offer have a black face to them with “Legend” inside of the gauge. The new brushed gauges look cool as hell though.

Ryan,

Do you have gauges that have the spun aluminum background ( see attachment) yet? These are what are stock on CVO models, have others that might be interested too, john
