Hmmm, this might be the one that bites you. The MoCo might not have all the parts needed to make it "run properly". Unless you going to settle for the best they've got to make it run as close as can be to "properly". :-/

hey d00d. I'm not goin' back. It's all part of the deal. Pipes , K&N, SERT. Been reading a couple of good posts about guys who did this at 1K and couldn't believe the difference and guys doing like me, prior to delivery. Prior to delivery seems to be a must, as these 110"s suck out of the box. They shouldn't even be allowed to send them that way, but that's corporate America. Get it out, fix it in the field. Revenue and return to the shareholders (and EPA too). Don't worry, I'm not going there again. . I'm hoping these guys with engine replacements are a fluke. If not, I'll have a 2 Year Warranty. Notice I keep saying 2 years. I feel what ever goes, will probably go I the first year. Then I can decide whether or not to extend it. I hope I don't have to. I don't know if I can handle the Hoist Challange for 7 years. That would feel like prison.  8-)  Hoist!

That's true Rog, committed to riding the chit out of it. Gotta try to break it within the first 2 years because it'll be covered under my 2 Year Warranty!

This is the reason I'm giving you the "business". Want to keep putting just a hint of doubt in you head (now you know who the voices in your head belong to ). If you are considering the extended warranty you may want to decide sooner then later. I believe there is a cost difference if you get it within 30 days/1000 miles of purchase of scooter, after that price goes up. Along w/that there are several dealers that offer savings/discount on the purchase of these policies (do a search here). BTW - The extended warranty is just an insurance policy and it's not issued by H-D, it's just "endorsed" by them (note mines says: Issued in Florida by the Continental Insurance Company).

I think the EPA is the biggest culprit here. Them and the Congress that legislates without a good idea of the consequence.

All of us gearheads are going to be under major pressure moving forward to leave our rides the way they come.

d00d, that chit's always in my head (like your voices). I'm just making a consious decision to hold off until I know that the bike is good-to-go. I'm not fixing the factory's screw-ups on my dime. If there's major screw-up out of the box, I probably will do it right away. If not, I'll wait and see. I don't know about holding off for 7 years though so I might just keep my 2 Year Warranty and drop them afterwards. There ain't nothing on these bikes that we can't fix and/or make better ourselves! And you can see, I don't mid treating my bike to goodies, but I'm not paying for their messes. So I won't mind paying a little extra if this thing turns out to be a Monday bike.

It's not required in NY yet , but there's been talk of it. Did you see the thread in Other Topics on the new S&S motor? Maybe this is the evolution of air cooled engines, that can comply? Harry seems to know something about what HD's doing next, but he ain't talkin'

It's that knowledge that the MoCo is always years down the road in the research department.
