Came available this week to fix a few issues. Not been able to download correctly but I am not computer savvy.. If you can get it to download and into your bike, please let me know so then I will definitely know it is me and not mother Harley.
-
I just downloaded the file have not installed yet. Have you seen any where what it is
going to fix.
-
anyone trying to load 1.18.2 after you unzip the file you have to rename the .iso file to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso or it will not load on the system Harley named the file wrong This is for the CVO only I have not checked the other files

Embarrassed to say I spent over 2 hours messing around with this download and Chuck figures it out in a little bit. Have it downloaded to bike now with the above recommendations. Don't know if it fixes anything or makes anything work better.
I just want better FM and XM reception. Thanks Chuck!

Snoopin around and found a new version of Infotainment software. On h-d.com under downloads heading
-
Cool. Thanks for the heads up.

Harley has corrected it now on the site with the CVO extension and it loaded this time no probs!

I think 14CVOultra called HD and told them how to make it work. Harley didn't do it on their own.

For what it's worth, they do include an abbreviated change log that mentions some of the changes. Unfortunately they also just lump others into "Bug Fixes" without detailing them. Click on the name of the download on the screen and it will expand to show the log.

Well the only thing I had chance to test was the zoom bug and that was not fixed
I will be riding a few hundred mile this weekend so will do some testing.
-
Well it does not look like according to the list they fixed some of the glaring issues. Sad as this has been on bikes for 16 months now.
1 If bike is started in dark or goes though tunnel, it will not go back to bright screen until you shut off bike.
2 Has all of east TN as Central time zone, when its Eastern
3 Auto volume does not work
4 Left Joy stick does skip a song forward or back on an iPod device
I sure hope the above is in the bug fixes, but I doubt it. The update from 1.18.0 to 1.18.1 was worse than the first version, created more problems than it fixed.
Road glide Icon was in 1.18.0 and in 1.18.1 so why did they add it?

Yes, the person/people working on these updates don't ride and they don't know how a radio, xm, gps are supposed to work. They can't even put it on the website to download properly. The radio system was supposed to be a high point of the Rushmore's and my 2010 radio was better for what I used it for. And the people that test these bikes must not even turn the system on. :soapbox:
-
Just uploaded.. I just hope if fixes the volume issue I have been having. I am thinking about the free xm trial but don't know if I want to mess with it...

If you do the XM on line, it is quite painless. Set up an account with no credit card, put in your radio #, and they will send a signal to your bike. My subscription has been done for about a month and haven't received any correspondence from them.
-
Did that give you all of the features? Weather map overlay etc.?

All I used the XM for was the music.
-
just turned it on... Looks like the radar map is working but there is no rain in the area to check with. Guess I better go for a ride to see if I can find some. LOL :orange:
-
Well mine still changes mode with each start up that's 3 that I know of they did not fix will know more after the weekend How long have clocks been in use it pretty bad when they can not even make the clock work correctly But at least so far the map has not defaulted to Canada
as it was before Come on Harley I have mounted the Garmin from my 12 CVO now i will see all the bugs and wrong directions. So much Fun having to beta test a $1200 radio/nav system
Well I guess kinda like Windows 3.1 XP 7 7pro and 8 and I think i missed one can't remember.
-
Sad that in a day you found 3 they did not fix. I am sure there are more, hope to get mine loaded today, and see if anything of value was corrected.
-
Well defaulted to Canada today on 2nd start up of the day.
The 1st route that i loaded for today's trip did not work at all.
The 2nd route for the afternoon ride worked perfect. Printed directions on bottom of screen wrong about 50% of the time.
Still changing mode each time i start it also seem like it take longer to boot up. At this rate it will take Harley about 3 to 5 years to get it straight.
-
Mine works great. I plan my route on my laptop with Mapsource. Save the routes in a GPX format. Load on a jump drive send to bike and on my way. Just got home from the smokey mountains and not one problem with it. I carry my mini HP laptop and at night I plan my route for the next day.

Got the new version down loaded. The only thing I noticed it corrected was the left joy stick will now skip a song forward or backward on you iPod or media device.
Issues that have been on the last three updates, still not corrected are plentiful.
1. Fade front to rear on speakers
2. Speed sensitive volume control, still does not work
3. Still thinks East TN is Central time, which its not.
4. Changes mode on restart of the bike.
5. Navigation printed instructions still wrong about 50% of the time
6. When you go through tunnel it dims and then never gets bright again.
7. Media device drops out and goes to weather band every now and then
I bet it takes much longer than 3 to 5 years to get it right. I bet they never get it right, and have a new head unit in 6 years and it will have even more bugs.
Seems they just do not care about getting it right. On my demo ride, in Sturgis, I told them the speed sensitive volume control did not work.
So it's obvious they have never rode a bike to see what the issues are. I found one in 15 minutes, not looking for one.
-
Well I found some that the new update broke
1. No notification of Text
2. No auto reply to text
3. Phone no longer comes through helmet speakers, unless you unselect them and reselect them each time you start the bike.
-
I see they may have an update to the update. Called 18.2 1 and file is dated 10/16/14. Maybe I'm asking too much for volume control to work on a $37K bike?
-
Are you kidding me? There is already an update to the update? SMH
-
Another four weeks my bike will be here. Prolly still won't be fixed by then, but, I've got all winter for them to fix the radio issues. :(
Like Jerry said, you'd think having this system out for the second year, they'd have figured out a way to fix this crap :-[
-
Well, I downloaded and installed ver 18.2 1. Seemed like this update took longer than 18.2 to install. Hope that means they fixed volume, speed control or avc, etc. and not created more bugs. Won't know until this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed, but I remain skeptical. I find it amazing the volume control will not work 1/2 the time.
-
Just did the download today had a problem with the volume control not working after getting gas had to shut the bike off and restart to even get the volume to work ,everything else was working except the volume, should of left it alone and not downloaded the new down load,no problems before
-
Well after riding about 900 miles this weekend i can not see any thing that was fixed with this
update. I don not use the CB so can't speak to that.
-

Same happened to after getting gas. Coincidence?

I had that problem before this version but not since...
-
I'll see how it goes today, seems like not as load also, since the new download

That was an issue with the 1.18.0 software that the 1.18.1 fixed.
They must interns not graduates doing their programing.
Bet this is one bike they do not send a quality survey on.

1.18.2 did not fix this on mine. Hope 1.18.2 1 has better results.
-
They need to go back to the drawing board and rename this project and call it RUSHLESS at least if they happen to get it right they could say RUSHLESS and DONE RIGHT. However I am beginning to believe they never get anything right! I don't think they will ever get some of these issues fixed, but I guess I'm as much to blame, I should have gone by their history. It seems to me that about 4 recalls not including the radio debacle should be very embarrassing but to them it seems to be the norm. Like I said I'm at fault also but it is starting to get frustrating, if it were a Honda we would say that's what we get for buying that foreign junk.
-

Is there a difference between the 1.18.2 and 1.18.2 1 updates??? I thought they both looked to have the same dates?
Help us out here-thanks!
I'm thinking the 1.18.2 1 is where they put CVO in the name of the download file where it would download to bike properly.

1.18.2 1 must be different. I downloaded and installed on bike. If it was same, it would have said I have the most current update I would think. But then again, with MOCO you never know.
If Ford or GM sold a 37-40K car and volume control would only work 1/2 the time and they acted like it was no big deal, I doubt they would have a lot of repeat customers. Not so with Harley. We just keep coming back, they know it, so why should they get concerned about getting it right?
-
I've tried to install the update onto my bike, but for some reason, it won't recognize it. Spent 2 hours trying and I'm about to give up. :nixweiss:

Download the correct file to your desktop.
Unzip the file.
There will be 2 icons once unzipped (extracted). ISO and TXT
Put the icon file with the ISO at the end of it to your thumbdrive.
Put on acc, turn radio on, hit accept, and then plug in thumbdrive
Hope this helps
-
Does the thumb drive have to be completely empty other than the update file? This is a new drive and has some Sandisk files on it. Could it be that they might be interfering with the process?
-
It is now installing as we speak! Thanks Boatman, for the help!

Happy it worked. Yes, the thumbdrive has to be empty except for the download.

Last two downloads that I did, my thumbdrive had my music on it in addition to the download.
-
Is the software upgrade region specific? or can it be used on all CVO bikes regardless of region?
-
I noticed after the download also speakers did not sound as loud, hit the avc which was on 2 bars already moved it to 3 bars sounded great again, moved it back to 2 bars and still sounded great, but every time I restart the bike I have to do this even sitting in the garage to make it sound like before the download,Loud. Also before the download when I would change the front to back speaker levels showed a picture of a MC now just shows a line
-
can some one tell me what to do going on Harley planner ride when I drive off the route to get gas the boom box wants me to start the ride from begin and start all over again not recalib and letting me go on with the route ?
-
I've updated my bike and my buddies bike with the new software update and the latest Nav Map update. So far no problems with either bike.
Tip for the nav update........Put the bike to acc first. Let the radio and nav completely boot up. Then put the jump drive it. It will authenicate, toogle to yes then flip the ign switch on.......Takes a hour and 40 minutes to update the maps to the latest quarter.

Sounds like a rainy day in the garage with the bike on the tender for that one. ::)

Good question I have been wondering the same.

Where do you find/get the nav update? Thanks.
Go to Naviextras and set up a free account. You will have to download the Toolbox software. There is instructions step by step that explain how to do it. You have a free nav software update and maps update.

What is the latest map version and date. Thanks

how many free map updates do you get?

Harley just can not get this radio programed correctly and I honestly think they do not care. There are so many things that are wrong in this software it is unbelievable, issues with CB, with Phone, with Text, with auto reply, Head set speakers and the list goes on.

The sad thing is that the Boom system was one of the main highlites of the Rushmore's.. Apple would have a Iphone fix in a couple days.

I have been following this thread waiting to see the solution.
So far it's not looking good.
With all respect to my friend Bob (Boatman) I am so glad I don't have to deal with an "Infotainment" system.
I am very pleased with my 11.5 and 12 CVO's but always in the back of my mind is the lifter issue that could cause major failure.
I can't imagine owning a Harley with an "Infotainment" system and worrying about that and the dependability of the motor at the same time.
For me it's to much to deal with and at this point in my life I have much more important things to worry with. My bikes run good and the tunes with the help of the 550 or 660 Zumo's give me decent sounds and good directions. Maybe I'm tired of the fight or just tired period but I'm glad I have identified the issues with my bikes and can live with those. I love listening to my tunes as we ride and just don't want the hassle of this Rushed More system.
Bob and all the others with these systems I wish you luck.
Fight that "Infotainment" fight because after all, you paid for the privilege.

Amen, Chip! The older I get, the less interested I am in fiddling with stuff that is totally ancillary to the ride. Hell, sometimes I turn the dang radio OFF just to hear the wind blow and the engine run!
I wish you guys luck with this new Infotainment system. Sounds like it was programmed by The Incompetents...

That is an understatement. It is a great system in theory and on paper. Now if they could just program it so the features actually work. Sad that 15 months into production it is still not right.
I have two cars that were first year vehicles and everything works on their head units, they have all the features but CB, for half the price and work.

That hasn't always been the case in the auto business of course, but these days most manufacturers take model launches very seriously and do a lot of testing to try to preclude the kinds of stupid stuff we see from Harley every time they launch anything even remotely "new". Meanwhile, Harley plods along just copying what the auto industry already has, and doing a very poor job of it. Just imagine if they actually had to invent any of the stuff they install, versus just borrow the ideas from elsewhere.
The big difference is that the auto business is fiercely competitive these days, and of course the heavyweight motorcycle market is just the opposite.

Hopefully this won't be the case in the coming years. If Indian makes a good run maybe the moco will do some real R&D work and improve their pricing matrix.
Maybe really far fetched but we could wish.
I do love/hate my new limited which is normal, but if they had some strong competition I think you would see the moco change is ways drastically.

That brought up a thought or two. My wife and I both have Ford's "Sync" radios with no problems. My buddies wife has had nothing but problems with 2 different Sync radios, one car was never fixed and was traded in.
I was a Chrysler tech way back when Chrysler came out with one of the first all "digital" radios. One even had built in CB. What was really cool was the radio and CB system worked flawlessly, unlike most of the rest of the vehicle.

The St. Regis and Newport come to mind with that comment.

I am positive the issues with the HD head units is soft ware. A software update seems to fix one problem and then add in two new ones.
Example in version 1.18.0 the left joy stick would advance to the next song or back. In version 1.18.1 it would no longer work. In version 1.18.2 it was working again.
In 1.18.0 and 1.18.1 the setting phone to head set worked and never had to re set it. Now in 1.18.2 you have to turn it off and on each time you start the bike for it to work.
Seems their programers do not understand latching or maintaining bit.
-
Hi all,
I have not tested my extensively but I do not appear to have these issues. I have tried media, radio and nav and they all seem to do what I expect. I am aware and have encountered the issue with apostrophes on imported locations in Nav and I understand that I can only have a max of 9 waypoints in a trip and those are indeed issues which they should iron out but I have not encountered the AVC issue or the brightness issue and all my buttons seem to work. I can move forward and backwards in my playlist and my volume controls work as I would expect them to. I have some friends who have Rushmore bikes and they did not warn me of any issues before my purchase.
My question is; Do we know if these reported issues, and they are all valid complaints, are truly manifesting themselves across the range or are there people. like me, who appear to be fine.
Interesting to find out.
Hope I am not made to eat my words anytime soon with mine breaking down.
Regards,
Vincent

Maybe yours doesn't have the latest update? Another thought is being across the pond maybe it has some other software although I seriously doubt it. Just a thought though.

My question is it really a software problem when some bikes work just fine and others don't? I've gone from 18.0 to 18.1 to 18.2 and now to 18.2 1 and issues still not resolved. A friend who just bought a new Ultral Ltd has no issues.
-
That was my point. I have just updated to Europe 1.18.2 and I have had no issues.

1. See if there is a way to reset the system back to the factory default and then load only the latest software update. Maybe the previous updates have corrupted the system?
2. When your friend isn't around, try swapping infotainment systems with him.
3. Call up the geniuses at H-D and ask them why they can't fix the system for the one and two year old bikes, but somehow managed to sell a new bike recently that actually works properly (as far as you know, of course).

I am willing to bet many owners have no clue their head unit is not working correctly. I have had more than one tell me theirs works perfect, and I am able to show them features that do not work. The book for the head unit is bigger than the owners manual. Most will never read it or have a clue what the head unit can do.
Clowns at HD customer service number always say this is the first they heard the AVC doesn't work. I laughed, as I was there when my dealer called. Then my wife called about her bike. Then I called about my bike, and was told its the first they heard of this.
Hell I told them at demo in sturgis the AVC did not work...
-

Do you have a book for the head unit and if so were do I find it.

LOL. Same thing my dealer told me and three others same day same time. He was shocked to hear of this and will certainly call H-D. Then said radios should not be on bikes anyway, man-up and turn off all that garbage and we will never notice it don't work. He might be right but did not notice a price reduction. Will sell them but can't fix em. I have little hope it will ever be fixed.

My book for the boom head unit came with the bike. It is the same size and shape as owners manual, and has at least as many pages if not more than the owners manual.

how many free map updates do you get?
I'd like to know that too.
If it's only one I'll either wait until spring or next year.
