575's installed - Heat output is reduced on grips
« on: November 11, 2014, 06:23:59 AM »

Just finsihed replacing a set of Chubby 575's on my 2013 FLHTCUSE8.

Worked alongside a good friend and got it done without too much difficulty.

The one and only problem I have is the heated grips.  Prior to the bar upgrade, the heat output was excellent.  At level six the handles would be too hot to hang onto for any length of time.

Following the upgrade the heated grips do output a slight amount of heat, not hot by any standard...

Looking for comments and or suggestions as how to troubleshoot this.  The only two connection points I have to access the heated wires would be the two pin connector on the end of the Right handle heated grip (with the cap removed).  The other would be connection point down inside the fairing ...

Any suggestions would be greatly apprectiated.

I had the same problem after installing 578's. Check the connection. I had a broken wire at 1 of the pins.

Yup.  Use a meter to check continuity and resistance of each wire from the grip to the connector at the fairing.  I'll bet one of those little wires got pinched/broken or pushed out at the connector.

Thanks... gonna have to peel the fairing back off and make the checks.  By any chance, do u have access to a schematic of the wiring/pins..?
