The last CVO-Springers might be with her happy owners.........
In my opinion, the Company will never offer a model with the Springer Front as a CVO again!!
This makes our Springers completly special.
Many nice photos of the owners of the models from 07 till 09 also prove this.
I think, it is time to start a call and summarise them all into a special Thread:
"SHOW US YOUR BEST SPRINGER PIC"

Hey Lolo...
Great Color!!! I never thought I would own a yellow scoot, but the 2009 SE Springer in Sunset Yellow is an eye full!
napalm
-
I didn't thought either... I was considering the 1800 cu and the 240 rear tire regardless of the color, and the first available one was a yellow one, so... And the advantage of the yellow is that you spot it a first glance in the parking amongst all other black :-)

Great photo! We have two springer spaniels as well. I tried real hard to talk my wife into getting a Candy Cobalt SE Springer because her name is Kandy and we have springers. She just wasn't enamored with the springer front end and settled on an Candy Cobalt SE Deuce.

The best looking color on the Springer or any bike is Sunrise Yellow
of course. I may be a little biased, but no other color looks quite
as good.
Love the yellow springers.

This is my 2007 CVO Springer. Still needs a little more work like pistons and maybe some head work. It has a 590 woods cam., D&D Fatcat, power commander V and a few new pieces of CHROME. I got it from E-bay last October and it only had 1200 miles on it, needless to say it was a great deal!!!
-
All,
Here's my 08 CVO. I just had my VH Radius pipes put on and I went with Wild One 6 inch Handle Bars. I have the oil tank being replaced as we speak with a all chrome one. I had 3.5 inch fwd controls put on it, HD Racing Tuner, also getting the lights all converted to LED's and added the sissy bar. After Sturgis this year I plan to put the front forks in the shop to get the forks chromed to match the springs. I am also considering very small chrome tweeter speakers with a Sirius radio cradle so I can listen to Rush while I ride.

Ok I read over and over about the 1050 that they put emblems on for the Anniversary 08 Springer, besides the logo that you got show your number is there anyhting else that is on your bike that shows its the 105th Av x/1050? Im just curious, besides the logo, there is nothing differing between the bikes correct.

Of the 1050 anniversary bikes, there would be small spec differences of the bikes depending on the point of sale, ie usa europe UK etc

I didn't by the fatter one since it could touch base if you corner hard. While checking the receipt it only says "Plain 312LHD Chopper Bag". It is 2 years since I bought it so I really don't remember any other details.
You should know that this bag have quick locks under the straps, to me it is positive since they make it easy to open. If you lock thoroughly you might be able to notice the locks under the straps on the 1st picture.

Skidgy,
What brand of 2-into-1 is that? How do you like the sound and performance?
Do you have any ground clearance issues in-hard cornering?
That set-up really looks sharp! You've got me reaching for my wallet again!
Thanks,

Shortdog,
Those are the D&D FatCats and I love the sound and performance. Thunderous wide open!
Ground clearance in corners is an issue though. I've scraped em numerous times. But I also scrape my jiffy stand on hard left corners.
You won't be letting your wallet down with this exhaust!

El Camino Real in LA, not really. Although there are a number of spots around here with that same name. Either street names, buildings, or mini centers.
I'll have to check on that tree and see if it is a Spanish Pepper. Interestingly enough, the city I live in (where the shot was taken) was originally a Russian colony back before the Spanish came through.

InfernoCVO, my son who is 31 year old (2 time) Iraqi Marine veteran just graduated from UTI Phoenix H-D late Jan 2011. He can't wait to rip my bike out of my hands to build it up, since I promissed it to him when I'm done with it. I keep telling him, too much, it will loose all civility.
When you feel the vibration from the handlebars & foot pegs, this is when the engine is under load (not overload), & when you can feel that vibration pass thru the seat to the rear wheel, you are now burning the rubber off. Few people understand this, take my word for it, I just parked mine after 4 seasons in Central Pennsylvania with 30,000+ miles, and I take no long trips. My 5th set of tires are waiting for spring as well.......Jack

-
Envithyx - what do you think of that V&H 2 into 1 on your '09? I'm looking to put them on mine in a few weeks and was curious about the feel/sound/volume?
I like the pipe. Looks cleaner than the 2 into 2 for me personally, and supposed to be a bit more power given the 2 into 1 design.
As for volume, took a db meter to it using a c weight and measured behind the pipe at about 1 foot distance - probably not the same distance used by standard volume measurements. I registered 102 decibels at idle, and 106 decibels when I reved it in neutral up to about 2k rpms - tested the volume when that crazy law was passed by our Governor.
When on the freeway, it's not too loud. The faster you go, the quieter it seems as the wind noise picks up. Also, given the angle of the pipe, the noise is thrown down at the ground. At 80 MPH, it is just a bit louder than the monster ovals I have on my limited. However, if you hit WOT, you'll definitely hear it. If you are very careful, you can sneak into your neighborhood and not wake most of the neighbors. Although, I do know my neighboor 2 houses down who rides can hear me start it up. He couldn't hear the stock pipes on the Limited even when I rode it past his house.
As for the sound, kinda hard to describe this one. It's not as deep as the monster ovals at idle, but it still has that Harley sound. I especially like the sound it makes on decel, which is deep and throaty.
I've already have had one incident where 3 cars were flying through a blind corner at a gas station, as I was comming around the other side. The 1st car turned left to come my direction, the 2nd was going to turn right without stopping, and the 3rd was trying to get around the 2nd car as if he was in his way. As soon as I saw the 1st car, I cracked the throttle (was quicker to hit than my horn :P), he about all but locked up his brakes and continued his turn at a slow pace. The 2nd car stopped in his tracks and the 3rd had no choice but to stop slightly to the right of the 2nd. So the pipes can get driver's attention. Mind you I was only going about 10 MPH so I really wasn't even worried about hitting them. I was a bit more worried about them hitting me or anyone else.
I've also had another bike (forget make, but very quiet running) follow me down Hwy 80 when I was splitting lanes. I thought he wanted to pass, so I moved over. He beckoned me to take lead again. I guess he figured I could make the cars more aware we were comming down increasing his safety. :nixweiss:
As for feel, hard to say what I feel, the engine or the pipes. I would say there is a nice level of acoustic vibration that the pipes will send your way when your opening up the throttle. The chrome quality is very good and easy to maintain. There is one caveat I'm having with the pipe though. The heat shields tend to separate with heat expansion in the middle (between the rear shield, and the two shields that cover the headers). The separation is usually no more than 1/4 inch and as the pipe cools, it comes back together nice and tight. However, over time (500 miles or so for me) it won't mate up as nicely and I have to loosen and reposition the shields to get it back to where I want it.
Hope this information helps. ;D

Maybe true... probably a typo more than a spelling mistake... but lets be honest here...
if spelling was a requirement of this message board we probably wouldn't have much to read or learn about by the end of the day...
Whaddaya gunna do...
Thanks for pointing that out though! I will send your critique along!

True story - - met a guy one day along the way with several CVO's, a house full of high end H-D items like a gun cabinet, a big safe, a pinball machine, pool table, several pieces of expensive art work, a closet full of leathers and so on and so on. Asked him if he'd heard of this website and his comment was "yeah, bunch of yahoos that can't spell " - - True story folks ! I guess it takes all kinds

Meant to say I like "With" better than without - - seems to be a more balanced profile.
Gorgeous bike either way but "With" is my preference - - not that I wouldn't accept the gift of it "without" :D

I have no issues with my LED's. I have police officer friends that reviewed the law for me here in Ohio. The Ohio law states that colored auxiliary lighting cannot be front facing, rotating, or pulsating.

I took this pic in October of '06 right after I got mine. The Lic Plate is from my previous ride that I had traded in, it was a 1999 FXSTC Softail Custom in Cobalt Blue. I put it on because it looked better than the big white cardboard temporary that they give ya.

:beatdeadhorse: speedydog5,
This pic of your bike is amazing, should have been on the cover of "Not So Easy Rider". I get lost in the
subject matter, and not the detail of your bike. Cigarette butts help plant the ride.
It appears that the front turn signals have been removed for a dual purpose mirror set up. Nice touch as well as
the tag holder. Some stainless plugs in the rear turn signal housings would do you justice. Hope you don't get
caught without a passenger strap. It also appears that the "110" derby cover may have lost some paint. The
remedy is go to your local arts & crafts and get a fine paint stick to fill it back in. Might be best applied when
you do your next primary oil change, been there, done that.
Kudos to the photographer.......J

Hey Jack (Off) nice to see your pic on here of your wifes color bike on here , you seem to have a lot of insight and and thoughts but maybe keep them to yourself as i have won several 1st place shows without turn sinals ,seat strap, and with side mount plate and there is no problems with my derby cover, maybe your problem with paint peeling is cause the paint on it does not want to be associated with the girly color you have so go beat on that horse Jack off!!!!!

2a) I will not comment on your spelling :nixweiss:
2b) in your defense, the state of (Illinoise for you) Illinois for the rest of us, must be more lax with their DMV motorcycle Inspection Laws ? :nixweiss:
2c) I have reason to believe that they should be called Vehicle Citations! Elsewhere, we mail the Awards back to DMV with a ca$h apology. :nixweiss:

Just finished up bars on mine.
Looks good! What bar and risers did you go with?
-
Just finished up bars on mine.
Now that's a set of handlebars!! :o
-
Thanks bros. I went with Carlini bars and risers... I had to replace the top plate to get the standard risers to bolt on. I tapped the bars on top and bolted mirrors directly on to the bar. I did that on my other bike and and it leaves a clean look on the bars. The turn signals are badlands flame throwers. You don't know there on the controls until you turn them on and the LED's flash. On the pic above I didn't have the front brake caliper. There is no aftermarket chrome brake caliper for the front of the 2009 brackets. Called all the majors and no one has one. I had to send off to get chromed and I rebuilt it when it returned.
Overall it is coming together. Doing some work on the motor now and I got my pipes in ceramic coating. I will be doing the rear in the next few months. replace caliper and put in the air suspension and then call it quits for this one. Maybe...lol

:beatdeadhorse: Glad you stopped by Jamal, this thread
has not had a contribution for so long it has grown a beard.
My first siting of the Blue 09 STSSE3 was in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on
my way to the Harley Factory in York (open house) where these bikes are
built. It was parked on the right side of Rt 30 in the middle of town. That
vision was a statement in itself. There is never a reason to be envious
while riding my bike, but the image of one like yours never left my mind.
You will see three (3) SE Springer's in this pic. Later when he (Blue 09)
pulled in behind me, he found out who has "The Tag" (STSSE). In Penna.
you can only choose 5 characters for the Plate.
In the background (click on pic to enlarge) an old biker is chasing a sportbiker
(black helmet, shorts) for stealing something. I understand that there was a
time when stealing something in your country would create a difficulty for the
thief's next ride.

:beatdeadhorse: Welcome to the Site IWannaChop.
We can always tell who is an owner and a wannabe, based on their
contributions to the Cult.
We in return sometimes return the favor in our responses. Did you get that ? LOL
Your first photo is a old Victorian photo process called 'Sepia' and is a Great shot,
that could have been from that era other than your bike giving it away.
To get the most out of your bike, I recommend replacing that front tire. I am on
my 6th set, as I replace both at the same time (less down time). I buy mine thru
the Motorcycle Superstore from the 3rd set on. Free shipping and the prices are
the best. I have gone thru the H-D 407's rear tire and unsatisifed with their ride
(too hard) and longevity (to short) the D-402's rode better, but didn't last either.
Found the Dunlop American Elite series :
(http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/31/401/30353/ITEM/Dunlop-American-Elite-Harley-Davidson-Replacement-Rear-Tire.aspx?WT.ac=Cruiser_Tires_-_Slider_3_03.08.13_DunlopAmericanEliteTiresrear)
tire, thru the owners remarks there as the best. And I agree 110%. Better ride
more groves for traction and longer wear. The H-D 407's thru the dealer are @
$240 + inst.
If that rr tire is your second, it's catching up with the front. Be careful of those
high points on the outside of center on the tread. They will create an unforgiving
situation, especially under heavy braking during a turn, usually a left turn. Due to
the fact that we all corner harder left because the pipes are on the right.
If you're under 10,000 miles, be aware that the torque to the rear wheel does not
deliver until you break in the engine, usually after the 10,000. In my case it took
all of 30,000 because of the way I broke mine in.
In the beginning 6th gear was useless at 60 mph (@ 3000 rpms). Today I can climb
a mountain pass at @ 2200 rpm's in 6th without lugging the engine, 93 octane.
Your benefit will be less shifting in those mountainous area's.
Say Hi to my brother who moved from Sand Point to Cour d'Alene to Priest River a
few years ago. He'd rather boat than bike, so maybe a highsign would be proper !
LOL again.
Good luck with that,
Jack

Nice rockinred ; I am the market for some new wheels, what size is that front wheel? I am looking at some 21x3, but not sure if that will be too big.
If that is a 21, any big changes in ride or handling?
-
Very Nice Rockinred :2vrolijk_21:
-
Thanks guys!
tjp, the 21 wheel was a bit to get on the bike. I had to raise the front fender an inch because it wouldn't just bolt on. Also, I had to find reducers, because the front axle is 3/4 and the 3/4 bearings were too big for the breakout wheel which is a 25mm and the ends stuck out too far out of wheel hub (no solution). So I had to find some aftermarket reducers and take it all to a machinist to get set properly to line up with caliper etc... The rear is a pretty direct bolt on but the bearings still have to be replaced to the 3/4. I also lowered the front an inch to compensate for the geometry of the wheel raising up so it kept the bike pretty close to factory for riding level. I do have air on the rear so not sure how much that affects the handling geometry but it sure is waay better than stock suspension.
I guess that's about it on that. Those wheels are now on back up and so are the front tire for it. You have to go with dunlop on that tire because that was the only maker that made a low profile tire for 21 and keep the 130 fat width.
Let me know if you have any questions. It was quite a bit of work for something I had originally thought was a bolt on change, but the fender didn't clear.

Thanks for the info rockinred; I am working with a local shop and they insinuated that a 21 could just be a bolt on project..which I highly doubted, as mine is a 2008 and stock 17 front.
That information REALLY helps me. I am going to do some more research. While I love the 21, I may just wind up going with a 19 to try and get a bolt on project to work.
Will post my results once finished with the new wheels. I am going reverse engineering and looking for 40 spoke wheels for the retro look....but damn I really wanted to go for the 21 front...decisions, decisions, decisions.
PS - your bike looks great! excellent mods.

I'm diggin' that rear fender. How about some close up pics and info on the installation. Bike looks awesome!
-
Hi Springore,
Just admiring your bike..
What is the brand of your seat and rear fender? It appears that you have had a custom seat made.
Is there any chance for a couple of close up photo's of your seat and rear fender?
Also, How is the seat secured to the bike? Is it bolted to the side frame or does it use suction cups under the seat?
Best regards,
-
Hello and thank you for your compliments on my Springer. :)
I think I'll make a topic about my transformation not to pollute this post.
Allow me some time to make more photos for you answer ... :)
See you soon... :beerchug:

Love these Springers!
I have a 2000 FXSTS that obviously isnt a CVO, but I'm thinking seriously of making a painted match frame a Winter project for 13/14. My only worry is, removing the front end and getting it back together without a mistake.
-
Hey Slim dude!
I like your bike. Always liked the Red 2007 colour for the Springer..
Could you tell me what is the Brand and model of your Solo seat for your 2007 FXSTSSE Springer? I am looking at installing one on my 2008 Springer..
Best regards,...
-
Thanks Hogdownunder!
I love this bike more and more every time I ride it.
The seat is a Danny Grey buttcrack solo. It's very comfortable compared to the stock seat. Just got back from a four hour ride home from the beach with this seat on. I could still feel my buns when I got home too. It sits me an inch or so more forward than the stock seat which makes the bike
much more comfortable on long rides.
-
Hey Slim,
Thank you for your reply. That is a great looking seat. What does it cost for a seat like that from Danny Grey?
You know, I really think these bikes are the most fun to ride like yourself. I have riden a few Harley Davidson's, but these are by far the most fun bike to ride.. They may not make the Springer any more, who knows, we may be the lucky ones??
Here is a photo of my 2008 Springer.
Best regards,
-
Awesome bike! I have a buddy that has that identical bike.
The Danny Gray seat is $356. Here's a link to their site.

Meh...it's not the best picture of this Springer, but I can't express how happy I am with these new bars. Still a project in progress, but I've gotten a chance to feel the new layout. I always liked this bike, but never loved it. Now...I freakin' love this bike.
Teaser shots! Please excuse my messy garage. It's normally much more organized!

Hey Fish,
Looks like your having quite a bit of fun in your Garage!
That is one mean bike!! Keep up the good work..
Can't wait to see your finished project..
I do like your front yard as well!! Wish I had a front yard like that..

My first post; just joined the springer club a few weeks back. Love the bike but looking for a solo seat that will move me back.

What lighting system do you have on your bike, looks pretty cool!
-
Thanks Charlie. I bought the bike last week, used. The lights were already installed, so I don't know for sure where they came from. There is a combination of pods and led's on it though. The only color it has is blue and it has about 4 or 5 different modes.

Those bars look great Rusty, and I'm in no way a little biased!
Seriously though, that bike is coming along very nicely. What's your impression of the bars? Did you have any contact between the bars and the left side of the console at full lock? I barely do, as does one other member who used Carlini bars/risers. No big deal, just curious.
-
Thanks fish eye. I've only been on the bike about 10 miles with the new bars, from the shop back home. Been fighting the flu bug and now some bronchial crap, so haven't had a chance to really ride. No contact on the left side, but just barely touching on the right side. LOVE the look. Going to try and ride back to work this afternoon. Weather is nice today.

Looks Good! I'm going to post some new pictures of my winter mods when I'm done in a few weeks.

Did you buy the Ness extension kit and have it chromed, or do they make it in chrome? Would really like some extra leg room.

This one is Billi Jo and I (my wife) riding along next to the lake.
Hi, What bars and risers do you have on the CVO? I'm coming from a 2016 Deluxe with 34.5" beach bars. I'm looking for bar and riser options for my 08 CVO Springer.

'07 Springer with 12' Wild One mini-apes, custom seat, rider backrest, Performance Machine 6 caliper front brake.

Just purchased this 2008. 949km's on the clock. Yes you're reading right. Sold new by my local dealer 10 years ago. Kept in air conditioned comfort as a piece of sculpture by it's first admiring owner. Stunning.

Very nice purchase and beautiful scooter. Congrats to you.....
-
Thanks. I had to sell my real nice black 2016 Deluxe with dual fishtails etc. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to own such an awesome inferno orange motorcycle.
-
Picked up the new scoot. Taken a few rides to get used to the springer feel. Not the first time I've ridden a springer but maybe it's a bit more stressful when it's your own :)
Even though it's 2008 I have to remind myself it only has 849km's so it's still feels pretty tight. The only issue is the occasional downshift that seems to get a false neutral. Bit of a quick blow from the air cleaner and it feels like the bike has stalled but is still running. Feels like you've slipped a gear. Me thinks a complete oil change asap.
Any other tips on running in this 2008 would be very welcome.
-
^^^^ Nice! Gathering that one was the one up for sale down Bunbury way?
If it's only done that amount of K's (been in storage) and you've bought it through a dealer,
I'd be very surprised if they didn't change all fluids as soon as they got hold of it?
-
Originally sold new in Albany at the HD dealership. I purchased on consignment from the same dealer.
-
It's got the Inferno Orange bling :orange: Big step up from my black Deluxe.
-
Yeh saw it advertised a few weeks back, couldn't remember who was selling it.
Hope you weren't affected by the fires mate.
-
Fire... gee wizz. Not directly but many of my staff and students were. I was driving up on Thursday with the scoot in the troopy and man in all my years in Albany never had a trip like it. So glad I didn't have the bike on a trailer. It would have been hammered by sand the whole way. It was a screaming easterly with fine dark yellow dust. Bike arrived at Cleanride unscathed ;D

My new to me 07, I just replaced the lifters with S & S and all new fluids. I've had at least 10 Harleys and this is one of my favorites.

very nice Springer you have :)
It's interesting with the two license plates at the front and back.
The German road traffic authorities would certainly like it that way too ;D
