On my '11, with Fullsac exhaust, TTS canned map, and Redline 20W60, mine never gets above 250, even when it's 100 degrees.  When the weather is "normal"...60-80 degrees, I've never seen it over 230 or so.  That's on the HD LCD temp dipstick, and measured after stopping for gas, etc.

Same situation here 'cept for the choice of lubricants, temp on the HD stick has yet to go over 240 that I've seen.

What is yours reading?  Normal oil temperature per H-D is 230°F under standard operating conditions.  As the ambient air temperatures increase, or you work the engine harder, or the amount of air flow over the engine decreases, the oil temperature will of course increase.  It's not uncommon to see oil temps near 300°F on a stock Harley under less than ideal conditions.  This is a very good reason why synthetic oil is highly recommended.

On our ride today on the Cherohala Skyway and back to Atlanta (70 the high), I never saw it go above around 220, and most times I checked it was never above 210. In the summer it can get up to about 230-240 on a really hot day.

I run a Feuling 8105 cam plate and 7060 oil pump, a K&P Engineering stainless steel micronic oil filter with cooling fins, the CVO oil cooler, and Jason's awesome cooling fans... plus a really good tune.

250 deg. is the hottest i have seen mine since going to Redline 20W60 under normal operating conditions, have seen it 280 stuck in traffic on a hot & humid  day.

230-250 is normal.

20W60 really ??

I don't know that it's necessary for most folks, but it can't hurt anything, especially when you live in an area that consistantly has temps in the 80'-90's 6 or more months of the year.  20W60 does not get any "thicker" when cold than does 20W50, but does have the added (?) benefit of the 60W end in really hot weather, or when you're stuck in traffic.  It's the cold starting that causes the most wear on engine parts, so I always let my bike warm up for at least 2-3 minutes after it's sat for a while in the garage, and then I take it kind of easy on the revs until I know it's warmed up completly.
