Title: lowering 01 fltrsei2
Post by: fltrseimike on April 07, 2005, 10:25:57 AM
I have a 01 fltrsei2 and want to lower the bike an inch or so.  I have seen cheap rear lowering kits from white bros or TJ's, but not sure what the difference is.  ALso found Race tech and progresive springs/emulators for the front.  Did anyone lower there bike with these or similar products and can you make a recommendation which one to use.

Thank you

I've used a 'cheap' White Bros. lowering kit on my '94 FLSTN and never had any problems with it.  Been coast to coast in this great country on it across all kinds of roads and non-roads and it's held up well through it all. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I lowered my 2000 Road Glide 1 1/4 inches using a lowering kit I got off Ebay (much heavier than White Bros) and Progressive Spring Kit on front.  Handles great, does not bottom out and looks great.  Sits very nice.  I also installed a Fat Boy front fender.

When I had my 03 glide I purchased the parts to lower my bike through the Harley catalog.

Any one have a good website for buying lowering kit (front + Rear) for '01 SERG? How low is to low, I have seen 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 for the rear.

I have lowered two Road glides they are a lot better just lowering the rear
White Bros kit has worked good for me.

I bought a lowering kit off ebay for the rear and it lowered it almost too much. It will bottom out on big bumps, but with my short legs I need it that low to feel comfortable on it. I ordered a lowering kit through Harley for the front also, but haven't found time to put it on yet. I'm hopeing that lowering the front will take some weight off the back. I know I'm stretching here a little bit, but I can always hope.

Thanks for the heads up Otis. I will watch it and keep my old springs in case I need to put them back in. Right now there seems to be about 4.5 inches before the closest bolt under the bottom triple tree and the fender and about the same from the fairing to the fender. I'll measure again after I put the lowering kit in and see how much clearance I have left.
