Was asked to help out here with a poll. So here goes. The interest seemed to be primarily what new buyers might be looking for. But the old SERG's look is so iconic most will have an informed opinion. So here goes...

I voted that it needed changed-updated. Looks fine from the side but needs a fresh headlight treatment. Also the interior area around the forks needs cleaned up so all the underside air isn't as turbulent

? What do I know, don't even have one.

That's an interesting thought. That nose seems to be the most divisive visual aspect of the Road Glides. At least that's been my experience in conversation with others. But it it very much "Road Glide." Might be a hard thing for them to change.

The question is what do I want in a new SERG? How about a real warranty, a JIM's 120 or more, a 6 or 7 speed tranny, fricken better brakes (I went to PM for calipers), chrome that does not peel, stainless nuts and bolts (if BMW can do it so can Harley), a frame with no handling surprises, improved stereo system, a wider rear tire, better lighting, improve the suspension, a little more legroom for the 6 plus footers, dump the crash bars. The graphics are still better than the majority of the graphics from the MoCo. A one year (950) production run in black and silver, orange and black, custom white and silver. All for $30K with minor styling changes to fenders, side panels and fairing.

Update the fairing graphics & down the bike graphics - most noticeable, best SE paint jobs from a viz standpoint HD ever did. Keep that eagle theme going!

Lose the 2 headlights. 1 headlight is plenty.

For God's sake, find something other than that Harmon Kardon 147 function radio to stick in the hole where a radio is supposed to go.

Until you and Bob had mentioned it I'd not even thought of losing the dual headlight. It defines "Road Glide" so much.

That light even predates the Road Glide back to the old Tour Glide. Since Harley hangs on to prior (antiqated?) styling cues like a sailor long at sea dropped in to a Catholic girl's school I'd guess they'll still be two lights on the next year's model.

Most likely. Just looks strange to me, but I look at stuff strange. Would streamline the fairing with 1 H/L, but agree they will probably keep 2.

How about three...one headlamp and two passing lamps IN the fairing...with these projector style bulbs, there is no limit....and lets make the center one articulable if that is a word, like the old tucker headlight that aimed in the direction you turned...

Recessed focused beam spotlights. With some a really cool mean look reflector. That'd be interested. That'd even be retrofittable (another new word?) with all the room in the old ones.

What I would like on a new SERG?

Many, but two in particular,

1) Get rid of the dual headlight and go with some kind of "Lexus" style refractor/composite angular look headlight.

2) A full size "real" tourpak like the Ultra's.

I think those are realistic request that are achievable.
Sure, we all want 150 H/P on "ZR" rated tires but it's a bagger.

I like the fixed fairing but have to say that I've felt more wind turbulance on a Road Glide than my SEEG. Some of our "shorter and rounder" site members with SERGs love them, but I would like to see some modification to the fairing/shield for those of us who don't take up as much cubic footage behind the fairing!

Also, I would like HD to offer an "engineless" option at a significant discount so we can put real motors in these bikes

Must keep the dual headlight, make them stock with HID system!!
Add a combined Turn signal passing light combination (I beleive Kuryakyn jut came out with this item and since Harley sell some of Kuryakyn Items should be a no brainer).
Please keep it CB and Intercom Less. I like the sportier options.
King Tourpak and detachable (a must have).
Painted inner fairing (another must have).
Give me a 103" if not a 120".

I agree you shouldn't make a Black/Orange SERG without at least a 120. The 00's looked the part but lacked the muscle...almost embarrassing.

I kind of like the idea of the fixed bat-wing fairing with triple lights on the front. Possibly more integrated lower fairing look with less of a gap between the fairing and the lowers. I've never been a fan of the looks of the dash in the shark-nose fairing. Placing the radio at the top of the dash doesn't work for me and attaching the speedo-tach to the handlebars doesn't work for me either. They should incorporate everything into the fairing like on the EG's, much cleaner and looks more organized. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (By the way, love the eagle graphics on the side of the fairing, those definitely need to return.)

Oh RD, buddy, pal, fugitive from the domain of Road Glide love; the look of the inner as it is was always what I liked best about the Road Glide. I love the look of that instrument layout. Big, wide, robust. And the little nacelle for the tach and speedo is perfect (especially when it's color matched red).

With the exception of the SE models and their gorgeous big triple redness and great flaming bird it's the shape of the outer that took me a long time to accept. That inner is perfect though. Don't you be touching instrument layout and dash shape!

Seems they got real close with the 09 to what I want.

A couple glaring ommissions are no Rumble Hwy pegs and no rider back rest. My understanding is it will even be awhile before you can by the rumble hwy pegs. No one wants mis matched pegs on a 31K bike.

Good Luck with your ride! I think they did a great job on the bike. Just disappointed about less for more money. I guess the wide tire setup was a trade off for the tourpak and lowers.
