2009 SERG, What I have and what I need!?
« on: March 12, 2009, 04:11:02 AM »

OK, after what seemed to be an eternity (I sold my other bike in September) I have been informed that my 2009 Orange SERG will ship on the 27th of this month. The dealer has offered a discount on all parts ordered at the time of purchase. I have gone and ordered the following list, but was wondering if anyone else has any other ideas while I am at it?
1. Chopped tour pack and removeable mounting
2. Luggage rack that fits on while tour pack is off
3. Led spoilers for saddlebags and tour pack
4. Hawg wired amplifier and speakers
5. Fullsac 2.25" muffler cores and stock headpipe off 96" with no cat
6. Screamin Eagle Super Race Tuner
7. Screamin Eagle heavy breather
8. Drivers backrest to match seat
9. Mounts to move passenger pegs and make them highway pegs
10. All parts to put matching footboards on for passenger
11. Cee Bailey 14" dark tint windshield
12. Harley radar detector and mount
13. Protective soft lowers
14. Rear saddle bag guards with pouch for water bottle on one side and extra pouch for storage on other side

Wow! when I write all of that out, it sure looks like a lot. Anyway, I know I can always count on my buddies hear to help me spend more of my hard earned cash, so fire away with any further idea's. I have tried to keep up with what most of you have been writing about since last fall but I may have missed some. This thread may also help other new owners with ideas of things they can spend their money on.

Try these three:

I've had the Kuryakyns and the RJS Originals shields on three different bikes (05 FLTRI, 07 FLTR and 07 FLSTC). My preference is RJS.

The Harley and Kuryakyn units are made of polyurethane, I think. Over time, these will break, melt, fog, etc. I've had three sets of Kuryakyns and they've all had one or the other of these three issues.

The RJS shields are made of aluminum with a leather-like vinyl on the visible side. They are much more durable, much better looking and they are manufactured and marketed by a U.S. Veteran for the last 10 years or so.

Oh, and you can get them in standard, studded or jeweled styles... I'm sure somebody out there (ladies, maybe?) has bought the jeweled styles, else RJ wouldn't be making them...

Hope that helps...

Not a bad list at all. Couple of thoughts:

"Felt" T. P. liner from H. D.
Interior T. P. light from H. D.
Keyed to match T. P. lock
Passenger back rest for T. P. from H. D.
Larger passenger pad for detachable backrest from H. D.
4 point mount for T. P. and detachable backrest.
Little chrome covers for 4 point mount
Garmin Zumo GPS
Techmount zumo gps mount
Interior fairing am / fm antenna
Kuryakin license plate frame
Mid frame heat delectors (your choice of manufacturer)

Good luck, have fun.

My Jewels don't hang down that far that they need a deflector.

And 1000 miles later:

Amsoil or Mobil in the motor, Redline or equiv. in tranny and whatever you want in the primary.

Lose the Syn 3.

Of course you new a good dyno tune after break in and find a tuner you trust who has done work w/ the super rt and mastered it.

yes, these are OEM parts. I think this one is looking best!
What about the rear saddlebag guards? I think they are safer and you can add aditional storage bags.
So I will do

Larry, I'm not sure he needs one of these. Can you feel the motor's heat when your doing 80> mph most of the time. Heck, I can hardly hear the Johnny Cash music from his radio most of the time!

I noticed a bit of heat Mon/Tues afternoons. I'm sure it will increase as the warmer weather approaches.

Possibly floor board extenders. Check the site for location, I think it's HDgoodies.com, but not sure.
