Ripoff or ok ?
« on: September 21, 2006, 03:55:43 PM »

I loved my 2000 SERG other than the motor. Maybe some of yours run good, but mine never did. I sold it in order to buy my 2003 SERK. Since wrecked and as you may know, replaced by Elvis. Anyway, I also just bought a 2007 Mirage Orange Pearl Road Glide. The more I look at pics of my 00 SERG and think about it, the more I want to have the new bike painted exactly the same as an Black/white/orange 00 SERG. Would that be a ripoff or ok ?  I know, I know it's free country and I can do whatever the hell I want, but I was curious how many bar fights I might expect to get into if I do this.

Thanks

Hope you don't mind a non-Road Glide guy throwing in his $.02 worth.

Rip off and bar fights?  I wouldn't worry about that.   IMO, though why would you want to re-paint your knockout 2007 RG?

First, check this out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Road-Glide_W0QQitemZ290030833166QQihZ019QQcategoryZ49996QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a 2000 SERG right up the road from you in Corona.  Available right now.  Pic attached.  Sounds like a great bike with 95 kit already there and in great shape.  Buy it now for $18,500.  Hey, it's beautiful and all but to me, that was then and this is now.  If you really wanted to go back to the 2000 SERG you could have saved a bunch of money and shopped for this.

But you didn't.  You got a 2007 Mirage Orange RG--tells me that was what you wanted.  With all the upgrades since the 2000 model year and the potential for a 110 motor.  Hey, I agree that the paint on the 2000 was a knockout, but I've seen the same Mirage Orange bike you bought down here at the local dealer and it stops traffic, pal.  No kidding, out of a whole showroom of bikes, including CVO's, that ride was the one with the group of admirers standing around it--including me.

Anyway, I can't see anybody getting pi$$ed off if you painted your new bike in the 2000 scheme, but me, I'd move on.  If you really just can't live without a 2000 SERG, then pick one up used one day, but don't re-paint your '07.

Who would possibly give a chit if you took a new 2007 and turned it into a 7 year old bike?

Spiderman,

After an accident that obliterated all of the soft parts of my 03, 100th anniversary Gun Metal Blue, I had a local painter repaint my 03 Road Glide the two tone Cherry & Candy Apple Red of the 04 SEG. Looks great and no negative comments.

Do whatever you want with our bike, its yours.

I have attached 2 pics of my Pseudo 03 SE Road Glide

What about splitting the difference and saving a bunch of time and money in the process Spider.  The really eye catching part of the SERGs was the fairing.  The eye always travelled from there.  The paint on your new bike already is a good looking set.  So just color match and add the eagle graphic to your fairing and paint scheme.  Best of both worlds  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] ?

Ditto, if I had a new RG I'd put the birds on the nose and whatever other minor adjustments it took to fill in the blanks.  So what if it's a rip off.  It'd be my rip off and that's al that would matter (to me)  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

I know a painter that does a pretty good job copping the eagle.
