Hope you don't mind a non-Road Glide guy throwing in his $.02 worth.
Rip off and bar fights? I wouldn't worry about that. IMO, though why would you want to re-paint your knockout 2007 RG?
First, check this out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Road-Glide_W0QQitemZ290030833166QQihZ019QQcategoryZ49996QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemIt's a 2000 SERG right up the road from you in Corona. Available right now. Pic attached. Sounds like a great bike with 95 kit already there and in great shape. Buy it now for $18,500. Hey, it's beautiful and all but to me, that was then and this is now. If you really wanted to go back to the 2000 SERG you could have saved a bunch of money and shopped for this.
But you didn't. You got a 2007 Mirage Orange RG--tells me that was what you wanted. With all the upgrades since the 2000 model year and the potential for a 110 motor. Hey, I agree that the paint on the 2000 was a knockout, but I've seen the same Mirage Orange bike you bought down here at the local dealer and it stops traffic, pal. No kidding, out of a whole showroom of bikes, including CVO's, that ride was the one with the group of admirers standing around it--including me.
Anyway, I can't see anybody getting pi$$ed off if you painted your new bike in the 2000 scheme, but me, I'd move on. If you really just can't live without a 2000 SERG, then pick one up used one day, but don't re-paint your '07.
