Otis,
      Any advice on setting up my new RG with some higher handlebars. I'd like to go up maybe 4 inches and back another 1 1/2" or so.

Thanks

Big B;
I would go with the Baby apes from Chubby's, 8.5" or 10" tall.

 You are on your own not in to apes on a touring bike and as far as that goes mud flaps or white walls either. How do you like that 96 in.

Otis,

Hey have you been? Long time no hear from. I swapped out the SE 103" I got from Charlie Cole to a reworked JIMS 120.

Sorry for sort of hijacking this post, had to say HI to Otis.

Otis,
        I'm only lookin to go up 4"  I ain't Paul Sr. from OCC. No wide whites on this ride either, the only thing they go good with is wire wheels and this road dog is gettin solid wheels put on it as I type this. Mud Flaps ???? Man you're killin me  :-X

The 96" runs really well for a stock motor. Lot more get up and go than the 88" IMO  You were right about the stock mufflers. I swapped em out for a set of Screamin Eagles, the ECM seems to have adjusted to em fine. Nice smooth power band and good torque in all gears including 6th. Does it do what my 103 does with a stage one, Reinharts and SERT. No and I'd be a lyin dog to say I'm not thinkin of bumpin it up to 103, but for this run to Maggie Valley and Daytona it's gonna stay the way it is.

I'm really happy with this bike. It's been four years since I let me 00 SERG go and I'd forgotten how much I liked the way a RG handles. Look forward to seeing you in MV and checkin out your SERG.

Tour-pak came in yesterday and lo and behold was predrilled for not only the mounting rack, but the king back rest as well. ABFAB ! Only had to drill for the luggage rack and set up the antenna and lock. Faux Pumpkin is ready for the road and lookin mighty fine. I may not mess with the paint as much as I thought since with all the OCD items etc it looks great as is. Maybe some ghost flames on the front fender and off the saddlebag stripes ala the SEEGs. Too bad it will probably look like a swamp buggy by the time I ride it the 2,400 miles from Dago to MV.

Don't have a camera I can download pics onto the site with Red   [smiley=oops.gif] I hear you on the avatar though. As soon as Beags is done playin Martha Stewart, maybe he'll help me with that. As to the RG I s'pect someone at MV will snap a shot.

Good fortune on the backrest holes being drilled already.  Have drilled several of those for the king backrests and the backrests themselves have never been supplied with a template.  So it's given a few guys a bit of worry watching someone else work with construction paper and grease on bolt heads to figure out where new holes will get popped in their shiny bikes.

Glad you got the parts in in time for the trip.  Enjoy the ride on the New Great Pumpkin.
