YES.....There is 12v at the plug once the ignition switch is turned on. :2vrolijk_21:

This is a plug and go mod. I did try rubbing some Goo Gone on the inside of the logo and it really did not remove anything. The paint is on there pretty thick. The flash light would not go threw mine.

I think I remember seeing a plug that was blocked off under the console..is that the plug you are talking about to power the light?

I did verify that on the 2012 sesg there IS a light in the tank panel. the fuses weren't installed the first time I looked. they were still being PDI'd. and yes, they put it on mid year 2011's

The early 2011 guys seem to have reason to complain.  Running changes in a model year to correct issues can and should happen.  Running changes to add accessory or bling should make those without complain a little.

What is considered "mid year 2011?"  I picked up my SESG in late March and I don't have a back lit console.

That doesn't sound like the kind of change one would expect as a running change.  Very surprising.  I don't remember the power connector being under the dash on yours either.  We had that off during the handlebar change.

I would believe it.......remember it was not too long ago when someone got heated grips on a 2011 CVO SG.
I got the adjustable rear passenger floorboards on my Kryto.  They were from the CVO Ultra.  I guess they ran out of pegs when they built mine.

Again, something like that I can understand.  Someone on the assembly line just grabbed the wrong part and put on your bike.  This would be a new subassembly that would require a conscience action to be implemented.

Just an update on my order of the "vin protected" console insert....got an e-mail from the dealer and my order status changed from "processing" to "on order from HD"....got passed the first hurdle....we will see if they actually ship it to me when it comes in. I will worry about ordering the light assembly after I have the insert.

An additional update--the dealer charged my credit card for the insert so I may really get it!!

I will be going to the stealer on Monday. Hopfully i can get one too. Saying that though it looks like the insert is somehow glued onto the console. I could not see any other connection like a screw or clip. It will be interesting to see if the insert can come off without being damaged.

As long as the new one comes with the adhesive on the back to stick on to the console....

Considering how far off center mine is, I would guess they are glued on.

Its not really that bad.  You probably wouldn't notice unless you were riding the bike...starring at...mile...after mile...after mile... :huepfenjump3:

Considering how much of a premium you have to pay to get a CVO they should be perfect.  And if not, your dealer should be ordering the replacement parts to make it that way.  I know I would not stand for it on a bike I paid over $32,000.00 for.  You want to cut corners and quality on a regular Street Glide, fine.  But that is just not acceptable on a CVO IMO.
