Makes a joke of the whole VIN protected thing, surely they would have the sense to have some way of checking VINs that are used to order, but then that is common sense really 

I read a while back that they were keeping track of the parts ordered per vin, but I ordered my dash insert a few weeks after someone used the same vin to order one...and I got mine with no questions asked once I provided the 2012 vin.....now I wonder if they are still keeping records or maybe random checks

I just went to the dealer with a 2012 VIN and they placed the order with no problem. He did say they may want the old one back. We'll see what happens.

That was one reason I ordered over the internet. Didn't want that question brought up.

They asked for a old one back.  I said it was on the side of the highway where I crashed.  So then they wanted a letter saying it was unrecoverable.  No big deal. I can make a letter up

I am not quite sure why there are protected parts  a CVO is a CVO by VIN number anyway, and if someone was to purchase an Illuminated CVO Logo and install it on their motorcycle it doesn't change the model, vin or year of that bike. All Moco is doing is jacking the price up on *Restricted Parts* however, as we see here obtaining the parts is not that difficult. jmo

Finally received the console insert

Now that it's in my hands I just ordered the light----that should be easy since it's not vin protected.

The screws should be part number 4194 (x2).

What I don't like is that the 2011's were suppost to come with this illuminated console. So we had to pay for it twice.

Just got email from dealer in channel islands, tank console has arrived from US  
so it is on its way to my doorstep, should only be another couple of days   Cheers guys.
