Opinion only, maybe not? It's possible those FOBO screw on's could possibly throw the tires balance of? Looking large on a cycle rim.
No issue here.

I guess the Garmin ones are a similar size?  They don't cause any noticeable imbalance.

Since you will have to rebalance wheels and tires when you buy new tires anyway, just make sure the sensors are on the valve stem when the guy balances them.  In the meantime, get the sensor weighed on an accurate scale (see your local high school chemistry teacher, or your neighborhood drug dealer).  I think you'll find the weight of the sensor and battery is negligible and probably less than the typical error you get from most places doing a balance job anyway.

I purchased the FOBO about a month ago and I am pretty impressed.  It is a bit large, but you can only see it on the front tire. It has been very accurate and I love the piece of mind that I can always check my pressure before a ride, but even at a pit stop where in the past I wouldn't even bother. as for balance, I have been double nickel many times and I feel no difference at all.
Thanks IROAR for suggesting it to us.

I have a reservation about these.  Whenever I wipe my bike down, which is nearly every time I ride, I do so on a jack stand.  That makes it very easy for me to check the tire pressure and examine the tires.  While it would be nice to always know the pressure, I think it is most important to also examine the tires before riding.  Just a thought....

I have been using the ones sold by BigBikeParts.com for about 6 years, I kept them when I bought the new bike and continued. They do require a battery about every 6 - 8 months in the module/key chain deal and every 12 months in the valve stem units. No effect on balance and they are off .5# from my digital tire gauge. I still check the tires whenever I wash the bike (at least weekly) but in all the years the sensors have never been off.
I think they are a great safety item, same as on both our cars. I check them daily when I start the car or bike. Takes all of a couple seconds and it provides a little peace of mind. Only thing is I never seem to not be amazed how much pressure the rear tire gains when riding double or loaded for trips. Used to concern me, now I just accept it.
Also, BIGBIKEPARTS.COM has the screw-on saddlebag retaining kit for $17.95 retail. I see no need for these but I know alot of folks have bought them.

I've had my FOBOs about a month.  Very convenient to pull out my iphone and check the air pressure in the front and back tires.  You can also set high and low pressure alarms for each tire.  They screw into the stem and are a bit large.  The rear cannot be seen and the front can only be seen if the stem is below the center of the wheel.  No biggy given the convenience.  Friends that have seen them have ordered their own set both for their bikes and rv or trailers.  The app allows you to keep track of many different vehicles so long as you are within range.  Tip  slightly overfill before scewing in the device as you will lose a bit of air in the process.  They claim accuracy to .1lbs/sq inch

Attached is the app opened on an Iphone.  Pressure is a bit high.  Not sure why there is such variance in temperature.

With the FOBO system can you get a current reading of tire pressure with the bike parked?  I've looked at some other tpms before and in order to conserve battery life in the sensors they are motion activated meaning you can't get a current pressure before a ride until you actually ride the bike.  I want to be able to get the current pressure before I start out.  Hoping that is possible with the FOBO.  If it is I'm all in.   :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, anytime you are within range of the bike and the app is open it gives you the reading. I have had it for a few months now and really like it. If you even walk by the bike with the app open it will give you a reading.

Ordered mine this past Friday. Should be in Tuesday (update...made it today...Monday). I'll post after I've used then a few days has changed to I'll post today.

First off, watch the video on youtube for installation.  If you do, it will find it took you longer to watch than install.  I went home for lunch and installed both sensors along with downloading the app in 5 minutes.  It took an additional minute to program both sensors and I'm up and running.  I'll post in a few days on how they operate but first impression is....impressive.

If you want to save a bit, order directly from the Fobo website.  If I had ordered from Amazon, it would have run me $107 and free shipping since I'm a Prime member.  However, it was just $99 through the Fobo website (free shipping and no sales tax).  Plus, I ordered it Friday, it came in today.  Through Amazon, I would have gotten it Wednesday which is still fast but Fobo was faster.

Screen shot of the app.  I've tweaked it a bit after the initial install.  If you change the parameters of the settings, you have to re-set the sensors.  Again, that took a minute or so to tweak.

I like it.  Simple install, simple operation and it works as stated.  Also, with the factory order, they included two extra batteries in addition to the ones already installed.  Not too shabby.....

I'll post in a week or so after some use.
