Interesting workaround, but not really acceptable for me....

I can't help but think that there MUST be a simple solution, and that somebody half capable with electronics (i.e. not me!)  could think something up in 5 minutes though.

Why won't this work for you?  Here's what I am using.  Zumo with a 4GB SD card inserted...full of MP3s.  Zumo allows XM use, MP3 use, or whatever, and it plugs into the head unit.  It can control all of your audio, and interrupt it all for voice directions whenever she wants to yell at you.  Only thing it can't interrupt is the CD player, but if ur using MP3 there is really no need for CD.  When I had my 2620, I went without the voice guidance, which is really overrated anyway.  But now it will all work.  Give it some thought.  Good luck!

Thanks Doc.  Main problem is I really like to listen to the radio when I ride, not MP3s, and I hate external cables like the one I'd have to plug into the AUX socket. I guess I'm just awkward!

Sure, I get you.  I hate those cables too.  But I never found anything better than running a cable down the handlebar and into the fairing, then back to the front.  It's neat enuf I guess.  Good hunting!

Does anyone have the HD bluetooth module?. Cause I was thinking that the Zumo would link with the Harley bluetooth module. Then any mode on the radio would be overridden by the Zumo output. Dedicated to just this, without the phone, wouldn't it work?

You have the bluetooth installed, and was wondering about what I said above about the bluetooth Harley version. I am a bit confused, If the bluetooth Harley would read a bluetooth headset , or phone, I wonder if it would also read the Zumo. Or, are they both trying to do the same thing, but linking to an outside device? Or can they read each other. If so problem solved. 

Of course, if J&M understands the issue, maybe the dongle is the correct way.  I hope to see them at the booth at Destination Daytona. Maybe they have one of their engineers there.  Or   UNBALANCED are you out there? Wherever you are.....you have both... Can it be dun?

Hi Rhino. 

No, in typical HD style, the front end on the radio means that only a phone (and precious few makes/models at that!) can connect to the HD BT.

Yes, you need that harness to install the Bluetooth, and it does have spare connectors - but there's no obvious way to interface to them.  Interesting thought though!

I find this solution very interesting as an intermediary one, before finding a real bluetooth hardware that can plug mobile, Zumo, and HK all together.
Personally, I had the original HD GPS installed and find it boring, it is only interesting when you want to go from point A to point B. No way to design a trip, no maps, etc...
I first owned a Quest and found it fantastic. I designed a trip of about 2500 miles from LA to Grand Canyon, Vegas, SF and back LA without missing a road.
I now bought the new Zumo which is the perfect evolution of the Quest.
As you all, I am trying now to take the most out of the product, i.e. having my mobile phone ringing in my headset and seeing the name of the caller on the Zumo screen, and obviously having the road directions also through my headset.

So, to come back to the accessory loophole, it is a simple way to get the sound from the Zumo, but what about Mobile phone call answering? Can you have the micro output of the Zumo working with the HK system?

Same problem, Phil - but having said that, it's a little like re-inventing the wheel, because the HD Bluetooth for phones exists, and works well.

I'd like to buy the HD Bluetooth and found very usefull information thanks to this forum. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the conceptor and all the contributors.
But here are some issues regarding the HD Bluetooth:
1. It is not intended by HD to be implemented in the Leather Touring Pack we have on the FLHTCUSE, which is stupid (my opinion), so all I found in several comments here is handy andy solutions : put it elsewere behind, under, whatever around the tour-pack or, what seems the best, above the HK radio, but what about the weight of the bluetooth hardware as it is not intended to be put there? (how will it last over time?).
2. The HD Bluetooth accept only a limited number of mobile phones. I have personally a Sony Ericsson K800i (which is the European version of the US K790a), how will it work with this?
3. It seems that the HD Bluetooth does not work with the Garmin Zumo, so it means that they will not work together which is boring.

Let's dream about a solution developed by HD and Garmin, they worked already hand in hand for the Quest, so why not for the Zumo?
