New to me bike.
« on: November 06, 2021, 11:37:11 PM »

I got tired of waiting on HaulBikes. I flew out to Las Vegas and rode it home to LA. It’s a 2018 GoldWing with the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission 7-speed), CB and airbag. It comes with ABS, power windshield, reverse, and infotainment/Navigation. It was a pleasure to ride. I looked at the BMW, but had already decided on the Honda.

My plans are NOT to change cams, do head work, change exhaust, dyno tune, or upgrade suspension. I’m NOT going to WingDing or joining GWRRA, AMA, NRA, or AARP. I’m just going to ride it and enjoy.

I thought AARP membership was mandatory with a wing!   :D

Did you take the BMW B or the BMW Grand America for a test ride?

Is that a standard or automatic?  Curious....if that bike is all of that then why'd they sell it?

Congratulations on the new ride.
And thanks to HaulBikes for setting up the first road trip!
I've only ridden 1 GW 10 years  ago, and it seemed like the windscreen was 4 ft tall.
Yours looks much better.

JC,  I rode my friends BMW. This GoldWing is an automatic transmission. I’m getting used to not having a clutch. It come with 4 ride modes, tour, Econ, rain and sport. In sport mode it’ll run with the BMW. It’s so well balanced, even at slow speed.

Great color choice Mark :2vrolijk_21:

And so glad you enjoyed the road trip home.  I made the mistake of test riding a GW on an Indian Summer Saturday afternoon when I had nothing else to do a couple weeks ago.  It was tempting.  I ran away when the image passed (too slowly) through my head of the FXR, the SERK and the SERK all gone from the garage and just one bike  parked inside.  But it was tempting.  Have huge fun with it.

Congrat's Mark, a good friend of mine in Bullhead City, Az. bought the exact same bike and loves it. His only knock was the lack of storage for him and his BSR.

BTW.....how many miles on the bike and how many miles was your ride home?

Totally agree on the lack of storage, I’m looking at trailer options now. The bike had 33k miles on it and it was about 290 miles from the pick up point in Las Vegas to my home in LA.

Congratulations on the new bike.  I purchased a Honda F6B back in 2015 and love it.  I still have 4 Harleys, which I love and will keep but I also love and understand the Goldwing thing.  Enjoy!
