Is VRSCSE2 Muffler a Screamin Eagle muffler?
« on: May 24, 2007, 04:18:39 AM »

Hallo all, I would like to change the sound of my VRSCX without changing the exhaust look. I have VRSCSE2 Muffler to buy. The question is : are they Screamin Eagle (loud) or just normal , the same as the one in my X? Thanks for any ideas..

Hi Tomm,
I have the Screamin Eagle muffs on my 05' VRSCSE and they are louder than the stock muffs, not a lot louder, but they have a better tone to them then stock, a deeper tone, sounds more like a Porshe, IMHO, when you get on it. Really depends on how loud you want them. If your looking for a big difference in sound the SE's are not what you're looking for. Again IMHO. Although I haven't heard them, the V-modded muffs are supposed to sound pretty good too and you can keep the stock look.

Let us know what you decide.

Good luck,

Welcome to the site, Tomm!

The muffs that come stock on the SEVROD, 05/06 are not Screamin' Eagle Mufflers...

The muffs you have on your X is the same muff that comes stock on the SE models, other than the SE's have the end cap on the muffs.

Like Ed said, the Screamin' Eagle Mufflers, if you can still find a set (they quit making them after the 06 year), have a deeper, throatier sound to them, more like a hot rod sports car, as Ed mentioned.  If you cannot locate a set of the SE muffs, and want to maintain the look, have your mufflers Vmodded at this place: http://www.v-mod.com/contactus_home.asp

They take your muffs and drill holes in the ends of the baffles...it increases the flow of the pipe, and gives more sound.  From what I have been told, they sound like a hot rod V-8 engine.

Whichever you decide to do, you will need to add a fuel management system, especially if you add the K&N air filter to allow more air flow into the engine.

Tomm....I'm in the middle of installing the new V&H's 2 into 1 system...should have it completed tonight, wash things up tomorrow, then have a few pics.  The bike is being tuned Saturday AM.  I'll post on my impressions of both the performance and sound of these pipes.  the header portion and heat shields are on the bike now, and they look really good...the Oval Muffler will go on tonight.

Dyno'd @ 113 in power and would like to pick up another 5 or 6 but don't want it too loud and don't want to go to a 2-1.

Most of the 2/1 pipes are producing the best numbers.  Special Ed has his SE muffs vmodded like yours.  The regular stock pipes vmodded are supposed to be a bit louder, but power is about the same.  Have you modded your air box at all?  That helps a bit.  The new RH pipe is putting out some good numbers, but it's a 2/1, as is the CFR pipe.  V&H double shots do fairly well for a two pipe system, but I've never cared for the looks on a V...looks too much like a Dyna pipe, as do the dual RH's for the V.  I put the new V&H 2/1 on mine...not big numbers, but it has a nice sound...a bit louder at idle than what you've got now, but sounds real good when you wind her up.
