Same VVT cam cover but not a VVT engine. Brochure states this 121 is tuned for higher horsepower than the VVT version.

Sent from my SM-N981U using Tapatalk
According to the information on Harleys website. The 121 H.O. or non VVT is 127 HP and 145 torque, compared to the 121 VVT at 115 HP and 139 torque.

What's up with the decal on the side cover on the Road Glide St CVO. What is it suppose to represent? Any thoughts? I'm surely not impressed with the direction HD is going.

That's one I've never seen! I haven't had an interest in the latest CVO's & just saw this decal on the 2024 CVO Road Glide ST.

Our local dealer used to throw in a jacket with the cvo purchase a few years ago.
Last one they gave me was on my 2016 cvo.
After a couple changes of ownership they stopped.
I can see why now!
 :nixweiss:

I thought your post was joking, but I see that jacket really is $2400!  Whoever thought that price up has to be two steaks short of a barbeque!   Who in their right mind would buy one at that price.  Seems to be the current MoCo pricing trend though, pick a number, then treble it and we'll call that a bargain....

Price of that jacket is insane.  Heck I choke on 700 for a good jacket.

I think the CVO ST will sell well.  Love the white one, love the adjustable suspension Front and Rear.

I think the CVO ST will sell well.

I'm sure it will Dave, but I think the current ludicrous prices on all Harleys will change the [majority - obviously there are exceptions] ownership model from we enthusiasts to RUBs who just want to say "look at me, see how much money I have to spend on toys" while doing a couple of hundred miles a year.  I won't buy another new HD (after 6 new ones, 5 of them CVO Ultras) because the prices are simply taking the mickey, for unreliable and (in my opinion only) progressively uglier, progressively less well equipped, motorcycles of which they allow the purchasers to be the beta testers.  Could I afford one?  Certainly - my garage is full of expensive machinery.  But I could buy a decent car for considerably less than a CVO Harley, which wouldn't need a water pump in 15000 miles, wouldn't have engine oil transferring to the primary, etc, etc., and wouldn't need to be governed to 99mph to stop me crashing it.  Add to that the increasing quantity of cheap Chinese parts on a Harley, and the MoCo's well proven ability to deny that all the common problems exist, not issue recalls when they should, unless forced to, and my conclusion is that they are progressively biting the hand that feeds them.  Watch out for them switching to direct online sales and missing out the dealer network entirely for new bike sales; I bet that's in their plans. Bottom line - NO motorcycle is worth HD's prices, or even close to it.  Just my 2c of course.....

Dave: agree, BUT…

I’d like to see more improvements on the suspension. The new remote reservoir rear shocks are made by Showa and are mounted a little differently than the Ohlins setup. Not as clean IMHO.
It would be nice to see the Ohlins setup front and rear at least on the “premium “ CVO. The technology is there for electronic control from the dash.
The weight loss is nice, a new frame would help even more especially the swingarm. The stock one is really heavy!

My present 2019 cvo is still a little ahead of the curve compared to the new bikes. I’ll keep it, it’s paid for and for less $$ than a new one!
Maybe I’m getting old? Naw. I DO enjoy my 24 year old softail

NOT TO DERAIL THIS TREAD BUT...

"Fast Johnny" is a real-life guy.

He grew up in the hood of Compton and was king of the street racing bagger crew. He later became a Harley drag racer and continues to still race.

If you check out "2LaneLife" videos on YT, they had a pretty damn good video where they interviewed Fast Johnny. He is a survivor of some sick sexual abuse at the age of 7 years old.

I have a lot of respect for him and had no idea he had to go through all that stuff. That video on "2LaneLife" was the first time he announced that publicly.

Can’t say that I’m impressed with the styling especially the rear lights on the RG & SG. Glad that I gave the 22 model year.

Eqcons,  You have several valid points.  Especially about the customer being the Beta testers, and we were for the 2007, 110, the 14 GT head unit, the 17 M8, the 18 GTS head unit, the 21 Pan America, and the 23 CVO.  Prices have gone nuts and features have been removed.

Mike, I would have liked a new frame, and swing arm with improved suspension.  The adjustable front should have been on the 23 and 24 CVO's not just the ST.  The mounting for the rear remote reservoirs looks like it prohibits installing the 4 point docking hardware.

I do really like the new head unit and the VVT engine..

Relocation brackets coming in the 2nd qtr for those rear canisters. There's something in the P&A book about that.

Of course. I believe the whole intent of the ST models this year though were to be a bar hopper/"performance" bagger taking after the races that have been going on the last few years. It'll be interesting to see if Polaris wants to put something out to compete against market share.

You are correct.  The ST was molded after the King of Baggers race bikes.  It's being marketed as a performance bagger, even the promo for it shows them ridding it hooligan style.  Red line is 5900 RPM, peak torque comes on latter than the other CVO's or M8 motors.  I have a feeling its not set up to cruise at 70 mph with where peak torque is, you want it around 3000 rpm for touring.
