I have been doing some work on my 01 SERG the last few days.
Was wondering today how long it has been a part of the SBB bike family.
Figured out it has been six years and everyone of them have been fun.
I thought I would start a log of when we purchased our Classic SERG's.
Criteria is, it has to be an 00 or 01 SERG. (those years define the term "Classic")
And you have to currently own it. Let me know if you sell it and I will remove your name.
The listing will be by date of purchase.
Lets have some fun.

And your effort was the purpose of this thread.
I did the same thing earlier to find out when I purchased mine.
It's not about being first or being last, it's about the date of purchase.

No exact date but at least a close idea here for Lou. For some reason I remembered Grandpadoc's opening thread. Guess always paid attention to the red ones.

Thanks Twolane for jogging my memory...its like it couldn't be that long ago. I looked it up and I got it from a private party January 22, 2007. It was fun to read the old post and I can feel another "Mofo" coming any moment now. Doc

August 2013 if I recall correctly. I would have to get my regsitration for sure. My first harley, and my first dresser bike. I LOVE IT. I also own a fully kitted 2011 Kawasaki versys for more long distance goodness. I love both bikes. the harley is more fun because of the noise! ha ha.

When I bought my bike on 3/8/00, I was told by the salesman how to break it in..not over 50 for a hundred or so miles...blah blah blah...I rode home from the dealership, about a 6 mile ride...I loaded up a weeks worth of clothes, and my wife ...and we headed 5 hrs north to Daytona to catch the last half of bike week.
We broke the bike in between 65 mph and 85 mph...varying speeds up and down...never holding one rpm too long, we got to Daytona and hooked up with some friend from back home (Mass) and had a ball at bike week, we were like rockstars...any where we stopped we were surrounded by people wanting a first look at the new SERG...from Wednesday till the following Monday, we only saw one other SERG at bike week...
When I brought the new bike home from the dealership, mymwife thought it was butt ugly, after bike week and all the positive attention, she fell in love with bike...and like many other SERG owners, it is part of the family and a lifetime keeper

I bought my OBW as a retirement gift to me for 27 years of service to Queen and country. I closed the deal Nov 11 2008 on eBay, picked it up and rode it back to Ottawa in 32F weather on Nov 17 2008, University Town PA to Ottawa Ontario. First Harley, will be the last bike I sell when I retire from riding (and carried home by 6 )
Love the feel of the bike, love the ride, love the looks it still gets

-
Purchased new off the showroom floor on 2/20/2001 after first two people on list backed out. Traded a much loved 99 Aztec Orange Road King, never regretted it and no plans to break up my 2 Blue CVO Road Glide collection.

Well,
Imagine driving a 2001 Mustang GT and then going to a 2012 Mustang GT.
Almost 150 more horsepower, newer suspension and newer electronic features in the 12.
The 01 is a great bike and is part of the family, but the 12 is the 01 with 11 years of updating.
Does that answer your question?
;)

Even at Harley's pace, a lot has happened in 11 years. :o

Chip, I saw this thread yesterday and had to look at the title to see exactly when I bought it. February 22, 2006, it had 9,200 miles on it and it now has right at 60,000. I still love it, I just wish I had more motor. Maybe one of these days.

I purchased my triple red Screaming Eagle Road Glide new from Harley Davidson Cycle Center in Pocassett Ma on July 11th 2000.
The story of how I bought the bike and almost didn't buy the bike is a long and interesting one, maybe I'll start a thread and tell it some time.
The bike now has 103,000+ miles and has been to 37 states, Sturgis twice (with side trips to Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, Bear tooth Pass, And Glacier National Park, and finally the Canadian side of Niagra Falls (8000 miles in three weeks), and Key West a couple of times all ridden from my home state of Ma. I now have a 117 inch stroker in it and am in the process of converting it to Delphi EFI.

Bought my Orange & Black about three years ago and am the 3rd owner. Typically I ride my '08 Casper most of the time but we have taken a few trips on this one while somthing else was being repaired.
