Weird blue SE Road Glide
« on: February 01, 2008, 02:51:25 AM »

This is an eBay listing but showing it for the strange things done to the bike rather than as a third party for sale.  Hard to imagine anyone here actually buying this beastie anyway.

Unusual (to me ugly) graphics added in a few places.  The fairing eagle looks funny.  But most of all the nose is all bug eyed.  :puke:

Well, for one thing, there's not supposed to be color on him on a blue bike, just solid silver.  It looks like someone colored his beak and highlighted his plumage a bit when they did the body and paintwork required to install that fugly single headlight up front.  Do they make a kit to do that headlight or something?  I've never seen anything like that before . . . . I think I'd remember if I did. :o

Too bad, coulda been a nice, low-mileage bike if it wasn't so screw-- --, uh, modified. ??? :(

Go ahead and say it Brian.

It's one screwed up SERG!

Everytime I see a blue SERG on ebay I put it on my watch list.

I saw this one and passed!

Chip, is that even the correct fairing? I thought the 2001 had two headlights?

Second, if you buy another bike, you'll have to change you handle to black, blue & silver. The wife might beat you black and blue, and silver for the hair! :P

I think it's the correct fairing but has been modified a bunch.
Why I don't know.
Did it make it worth more money? Chit no!

No more bikes for a while for me. (definition of a while is, two to three days)
Did try to buy a KLR 650 on Tuesday! But does that count?

We should thank him guys.  Hasn't anyone ever wondered what a RG would look like without the dual headlights?  Well, now we know.  :puke:

And we will never do that mod!!   :ROFLOL:

Zombie, you're right.  I had wondered what a single headlight RG would look like.  Though I think the picture in my head was the outer lense and inner bulb like the dual lamp system.  Just half of what's there now.  In any case this proved it's all ugly out of proportion.  And that bare bulb sticking out the front is just butt ugly.  I wasn't fond of the graphic work added to that bike.  But that nose is just nastier than Rosie O'Donnell.

BB, am interested in your take on this ugly Road Glide though.  Is it likely at all someone actually liked that and did it with malice aforethought?  Or you think someone was patching a damaged fairing and that's just what they could do with it?

To be honest, my first thought was an older Electra-Glide with a Kawasaki Cop Bike Fairing- - - no chit. I'm not kidding. Forget the single headlight, the fairing just doesn't look right somehow. Not sure if it's narrower than an RG fairing or what, but it looks like a mutt more than the single light should make it look.

I love it.  My very first impression was almost exactly the same thing.  Rice retrofit.

Not sure if it's a center section molded in or what.  But I had the same first impression.

Could it be an old tour glide fairing?  And look at the rear of the eagle, It does not sweep downward.  Probably a wreck.  I saw one at a repairable bike website with a wrecked front fairing about a year ago.

I'm thinking this bike got wrecked bad in the front end. Whoever put it back together didn't have a clue. I hadn't seen more than the one pic of the weird single headlight before I clicked on this link. The paint on the tank, side panels and saddlebags looks right, but everything else is out in space. Hopefully nobody will bite on this and get bitten for their hard earned dollars. On a related note, I read recently where E-bay is going to discontinue the practice of buyers rating sellers. Is that true ?  If so, E-bay is gonna be home to every shark and pirahhana who ever pulled a scam. And no way of knowing if a guy is solid or a scumbag. Hmmmm people like this guy perhaps.

I think it was the other way around Brian.  Buyers will still be able to rate sellers at whatever level of performance they seemed to have earned.  But sellers will only be able to give buyers a positive feedback.  If the buyer screws the pooch he can still get the unpaid strike notices (which can get his butt kicked off) but that seems to be about the only retaliation for a flaky buyer now.

i have left negative feedback for a seller once and felt i was justified, so they turned around and left negative feedback for me in retalliation, ebay may want to stop some of that  :nixweiss:

I've never had to leave negative feedback before, but I hate sellers that will not leave feedback for me until I leave some for them. My idea on how feedback should be from the seller is after I purchase the item how quickly I get payment to them should determine the rating the give me. If there product is what they say it is (as described) then they shouldn't be concerned if I'm going to be happy w/it or not. When sellers try to play that I'll wait until you post feedback before I post mine they usually don't get feedback from me.

I emailed the seller asking about the rest of the stuff that the bike originally came with. He has NONE of it.

As for the eBay feedback system, it is flawed at best.

I have had far better results on the forums as opposed to eBay.

I received an order for the Hell's Foundry stripe kit on Wed. The customer emailed me today looking for a tracking number. That is 2 business days from his date of purchase. The item ships from Michigan and has to go to Texas and he would like it in two days, Buttmunch.

I can get stuff like axles and fork caps out fast as I have control over the shipping and product. The drop ship stuff leaves me at the mercy of the vendor (all part of doing business). :)

i have left negative feedback for a seller once and felt i was justified, so they turned around and left negative feedback for me in retalliation, ebay may want to stop some of that  :nixweiss:

After Brian's question last night I went to find that junk email from eBay that had mentioned their upcoming changes.  This was the main part of what they were doing.  If a seller can't leave a negative for a buyer it eliminates the retaliatory negatives that sellers leave if they screw up.

In reality it's a way to hopefully keep new buyers on board though.  Their numbers seem to have peaked.  And many who get a negative (especially early on) just never come back.  So they're trying to make it less threatening/more friendly to buyers.  Especially new buyers.
