Title: Adjusting the floorboards

My 04 has the right floorboard higher than the left. I know they're adjustable by the holes in the frame but my question is does anyone know what notches the left and right brackets go into in order to make them both level and at the same height? I am kind of a stickler for symmetry and this is annoying me  ::)
The left has 3 notches and I think the right only has 2.

I have mine in the bottom holes at the rear, and the higher holes in the front, for a slight tilt.  Suits my short legs better than perfectly level would.  Ignore the top hole on the left side bracket, there is no corresponding hole on the right.  I have no idea why H-D made it that way, but it's been like that for a long time.  With my bike sitting on a center stand, the left side board is 1/2" higher relative to the floor, front and rear, than the right side board.  It's probably got something to do with the fine tolerances Harley employs in all their parts including the frame and board supports.  Until you mentioned it in this thread, I'd never measured them because in normal riding I don't "feel" a difference.  I didn't try to rig up something to measure the height difference side to side from a different reference point higher on the frame.

Thanks Jerry! I'll set mine up the same. I can't remember off hand where mine are set but I know the right one is real nose high and I've even scraped the heel of that pad. I don't need them level, just somewhat the same. And yes, good thing HD was a stickler for tolerance. Could you imagine if they never were? haha! I believe because of the tolerance is how the TC came about with the cam guides and all. Good thing they got those cranks IN tolerance. haha
