Title: No CVO in Garage!
Post by: kojak on September 29, 2022, 07:11:49 PM
So for the first time since 2004, I wont have a single cvo in my stable. I've owned 8 or so over that time but just cant see myself forking over $50k+ and then another $6 or $7k in upgrades. I saw this bike and fell in love. Bought it on the spot and will pick it up tomorrow. Figured after putting everything on it that I want, i will still save around $10k-$15k vs buying a CVO.

For whatever reason I like that color as well. Been thinking of a Road King Special.

When we were at MV GTG I saw a limited go by one evening, the next morning before we went riding, I rode through town trying to spot the bike. After I got back to the hotel,my wife went down the street to get a coffee and called me to say it was at The Buttered Buscuit parked. I rode down there and walked in the place to find out who owned the thing.
It was a guy named Mike from Hickory NC.

I took a few pictures, and told the guy I basically had stalked him all over MV.

Good for you and congrats. It's a beautiful bike too.  I saw one the other day. I really liked it. Enjoy.  I really can't blame you. It is so rediculous what a new cvo goes for. And then only the $$ begins.  Good luck with your new ride. Stuart. 👍👍

Congratulations. Great looking bike. We're going to have to start a former CVO owner' forum.

Very Nice Bike I seen this Paint Scheme introduce out in Sturgis this year and a couple of my Friends
have either ordered or have already picked up there bikes already. I'm a chrome guy so I prefer the Chrome motor beautiful either way.

Good Luck with the New Ride !!

Im one of the few that actually like the stock bars. These are 2" higher than the ones on my RGS so we'll see.

I went with the Rockford Fosgate Gen3 Stage 2 kit for the ultra. The nice thing about this setup is it’s got a better amp than the boom 2 systems, you only need one (800w x 4 ch), it’s got factory presets already for the setup ( 2 front fairing, 2 tour oak), weatherproof and direct fit. Sounds great!

Good to see you got away from the CVO  :orange: so you won't be spending so much on a new scooter.  :nixweiss:
I still think your green machine looked fantabulos. Kryptonite and Tribal Orange are still my all time fav's. Your new one is trying to get on my list. Enjoy

Can you get a pix of the TD brackets? I don't ever recall seeing them made for a shark.
Thanks

Harley doesnt make them, ciro does. Very easy install, you just need a socket extension for the top bolt.

Figured after putting everything on it that I want, i will still save around $10k-$15k vs buying a CVO.

I don't have plans of getting a new bike anytime soon. However, this will probably be the route I take when the time comes. Hell, the "Specials" and Limited models now cost about what CVO's did not long ago. I predict in the next couple years we'll see a 60K CVO. And as always, it will probably have about $2k worth of extras in all reality compared to "standard" production models. I love my bike, but 41K was my limited. And even that is pretty ridiculous.

Overall, congrats on your new ride. CVO's have been really bland for the most part, but that paint scheme is awesome.

That was the sad part of buying a CVO special paint (if it came out ok) but then you start replacing lots of things.  Always thought it was a better deal to buy a std Harley and then get a set of special painted tins for it.  Does Harley still sell paint sets, if I recall they only made so many of each set.

They do. But you're talking damn near CVO pricing or more for everything.

What was needed for car play to work ?

What was needed for car play to work ?
This is a complicated topic as Harley upgraded their software in 2022 to require a connected headset for CarPlay to activate. So for bikes 2020 and newer, with the boom gts radio without whim, otherwise using a wired headset you can use a car play adapter that plugs into the rider intercom port on the console and fools the radio into thinking there is a headset connected and allows CarPlay. I don’t ever use a headset so for me, I needed a simple solution and this was it.
Since I removed the ugly console with the headset port, I relocated the port to under the seat with the adapter plugged in.
