Which Bushtec ?
« on: April 04, 2016, 05:31:20 PM »

Have decided to upgrade my current tow behind to a Bushtec, having trouble deciding between the Roadstar GT or the Turbo + 2 GT. Looking for opinions, will be towed behind 2015 CVO LTD.

Same undercarriage.  Only differences are volume and appearance.  No one else can know how much space you need or which you like the looks of best.

Personal choice thing.

I currently have the Roadstar GT but my first two Bushtecs ruined me on the Turbo+2 simply due to the size.  Like anything else....it's never gonna be quite big enough.  :P

I love my Turbo +2, but it's a more 'modern' or streamlined look than a Roadstar.
Here it is behind my '07 EGUC (top pic), and then behind my RGU now at the bottom.
Sorry...I know the blue is just badazz!   ;D

You decide.  For reach and ease of getting stuff out, I prefer the Turbo over the Roadstar, and I've used them both.  But for looks with your bike...hmmm...that Roadstar would be sweet.
Now go look at some of JCZ's posts for what the Roadstar looks like behind his sweet ride.  I think the Roadstar looks nicer with the Batwing, but you may not.  Not trying to talk you out of a Turbo, cause I love mine and wouldn't give it up, but there's something about the old school look of the batwing fairing and the Roadstar combination that is tough to beat.

Thanks RGlide Kid, that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for, more worried about ease of use and space more than look as I like the look of both. Here is a pic of my old ride with and escapade trailer which is currently for sale.

No prob, Dan.
I'm 6' even and it just seemed easier to get stuff in and out of the Turbo than the Roadstar.  Things were easier to find and reach for.  Plus the Turbo's got a much larger top door, and I think the it's capacity may be a bit more also.
I happen to love both designs, and certainly the Roadstar has an undeniable look.  Either way, since you're considering a Bushtech...you can't go wrong!

One factor that will greatly influence my decision when the time to get a trailer comes is: The Turbo 2 will fit 2 sets of golf clubs.

Decided to go with the Turbo + 2, had a line on 2 used trailers (Roadstar and Turbo) both in excellent condition and both a steal on price. Here is a pic of the Turbo that I am picking up tomorrow.

You won't be sorry nice trailers. Make sure you lube the chassis components , the heim joint and swivel, check the wheel bearings and get a spare set of them to carry with you just in case. I carry a spare but never used it a spare tube is good to carry if you don't have a spare.  Your going to love the trailer. 👍

By the way a cooler is a nice addition.

Yes always carry some extra parts, bearings, tire plug kit, bulbs, electrical wire etc. yes a cooler will be the first addition. The current trailer I've been using for a number of years had a tongue cooler and I couldn't imagine traveling without one. My wife and I have been doing a 2 week bike trip every year for about 15 yrs now and even though she rides her own bike we still travel with a trailer a wouldn't even think of doing it any other way. Here's a pic of us last year on the tail, me on my old bike. (09 CVO Ultra) she is riding a 2014 SG (non CVO)

Well it's mine, picked it up today and just as the previous owner (since new) stated the trailer is mint. It's a 2007 and he stated that it's only been used 7 times and I believe that from the condition, paint is excellent, tires like new and everything works as it should. Got everything with it, hitch pin, owners manual, cover and air pump. Best thing is I got it for $1800 CDN, which right now with the exchange the way it is about $1100 US. Can't wait to try it out.

Not knowing much about used prices (but they should be fairly high), but I do know the new ones are expensive, so it sounds like you got an incredible deal, Dan.  Especially being used so rarely and so well taken care of!  Congratulations and now we can hope to see you at some of our events way down south..right?   :2vrolijk_21:
