Topic: Any 2011 FLTRUSE in Rio Red in USA have Red Lower Fairings? (Read 8211 times)

Just picked up my 2011 SERGU in Rio red. Mine has Red lower Fairings. Any one else in the USA get 1 like this from the dealer or is mine a MISTAKE? I read on here some of the export models came with red lowers. Everything else seem normal maybe I got lowers from a SE ulta in Rio Red. I think they are red from the factory. Other ideas anyone?

Funny this is, I always felt the MoCo made a mistake when the '08 Duracell's came with Crystal Copper lowers... So, I had mine coloured matched in Black Onyx and have received nothing but positive comments ever since.

I imagine if the 2011 Rio Red's shipped overseas have red lowers that it is possible someone could easily grab the wrong ones off the shelf when they were putting yours together.

One thing about it though, if this is the case, you have a really rare bike on your hands.

The US versions definitely are supposed to have Black Ember lowers...mine does, and all the pictures that I've seen do as well. I would assume the reasoning behind the dark lowers is because the bottom of the tank, bags, and front fender are all dark. If you like 'em, keep 'em. Personally, I'd want the bike to look like it's "supposed" to look, but that's just me. It seems I remember someone else on here getting their SERGU with the colors reversed on the bags...

My lowers are the Black Ember but my back fender is also the Black Ember. Back fender is suppose to be Rio Red on the CVO Ultra Road Glides. Looks like the MoCo put the CVO Ultra Electra Glide painted parts on several bikes now.

Hmmmm, it's starting to seem a little suspicious to me!

Possibly using up some spare parts from Ultra's now that the RG's are becoming more popular.

That's exactly why I painted my lowers on my '08 SEUC Anniversary, and happy that I did.

I like the looks of the red lowers, but I think I would have preferred the black ones. It's amazing how the QC at the MoCo has gotten even worse than it was before. I didn't think it could. Never saw mixed up parts on the CVO's when they were built out back in the "shed". $:-\$

Also know of a Rio Red CUSE here in Atlanta that showed up with the lower panel of the inner fairing in Blue.

I think I would have to have the fender corrected. looks out of place IMHO.

It may look good but I think it's a crock what the MoCo is doing! Varience in lowers and rear fenders, what about when a you go to sell it. Dude asks why the lowers are red when it's suppose to be black or your rear fenders black and should be red and you tell him it came that way. What would you think? I would think something stinks about it just like I think about the MoCo now! I'm just saying....

I am on a 11 cuse6 and had posted that my lowers are in the black and all photos i have seen show the lowers being rio red, must be pulled from wrong stack at moco, have seen to cuse6 at dealers in last two weeks both with red lowers, and one serg today at Mt Cheaha in oxford al. had black lowers

Went to the Newcastle uk Harley Dealer today to see my Red Cvo road glide being checked over prior to picking it up tomorrow, it looks great and it has red lowers

Chris, I belive in the UK they are supposed to have red lowers. They look really nice that way. Only heard of 1 person with a Black rear fender. Since I'm in the middle of the USA, mine should of have black lowers. I lucked out and got an oddball with red lowers. Enjoy the new bike. Your gonna love it. Rick

Checked with dealer today about missed matched color on lowers. Said resale could be issue and would check with moco on correct color

Mis-matched colors could lower resale However I didn't buy this bike to resell but to enjoy. My bike was brought in from out of state and I bought it sight unseen. I ask my buddy a day before I picked it up around how much it would cost to get the lowers painted red. We decided it would be cost prohibited. Went to pick it up and he was the one who noticed it already had red lowers on it. He said something to my salesman about it and was told "they are all like that". Bet you never heard that from a harley dealer before HUH? I never mentioned it because I wanted red lowers anyway. Seems like this bike was meant to be mine and I really like it.
