They all have flaws!
« on: June 25, 2016, 07:29:36 PM »

After attending the baddest bagger Chicago last weekend, I noticed that almost every bike has flaws!  While I strive to keep mine "perfect", at some point I have to realize nothing is perfect!  These were $50-$70k bikes, and I saw scratches, chips and paint flaws on almost all of them.  I think I'm going to try to stop worrying about keeping my ride so perfect any more.

Why did I make this post?  Because I noticed my first flaw....and I'm trying
To make my self feel better about it :)

It's a hard pill to swallow and no matter how careful you are, something is going to happen. I'm an amateur musician and my main guitar is pretty rare and expensive. Always told myself, just be careful and leave it in the case when not in use and it will remain perfect. Doesn't work that way. But the guitar was meant to be played like motorcycles are meant to be ridden!

Used to be the same anal way. Then a good friend's boy got brain cancer.  Watched him enjoy his bikes, Cadillacs and other personal possessions the way they were meant to be used, which was to give him a release and reduce the pain he was feeling.  Learned a lot from that and it still affects me today. We only go around once here.  Enjoy it, don't stress over it.

My bike doesn't have flaws or blemishes, it does have character lines and age spots in her finish. When they reach 17 the imperfections in their finish become badges of honor! And mine has been honored a lot! ;D

Yep, and the same goes for mileage on the bike.  I see tons of "low mile" CVO's and ask myself why did they spend that kind of money and not ride it.  I ride the hell out of mine and enjoy every mile.

A clean bike in the garage looks cool but a dirty bike on a long ride is better....

You much agree with this statement. Back home after a 1400 mile road trip.

A way things change how we view our precious motorsikles is a evolutionary process, sometimes with outside influence, enjoy the ride while you can my friend.

When I started the search for my Road King, I couldn't believe how many owners had their bikes for a few years and were hardly ready for their 5K service. I bought my 2013 RK a year ago with 6000 miles. Now it has 20000 miles. I agree, ride ride ride!
